Need a high quality version of each converter.  The HagUSB to coax looks interesting for the later.  Any thoughts?

Throw a brother a bone will you?

The HagUSB will only convert 16-bit 32 kHz, 44.1kHz, and 48 kHz so I would not classify it as a HiRez device although it is excellent for standard redbook CD's.

This USB-S/PDIF is supposedly up to 24/192

Thanks all.

Right now I'm running optical into a generic (~$14 IIRC) toslink to coax converter than seems to be sending 96/24 info. through.  The SQ is different for sure switching the Mac Audio/Midi setting from 16/44.1 to 24/96 - although I'm not really sure it sounds better.  Need to listen longer.
