Buddy Rich & Max Roach - Rich Versus Roach

Perpetual showman Buddy Rich against the always smooth styling of Max Roach. Such a great album and one of my favorites showing off some of the finest jazz drumming and band ensembles around.

The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen [96khz/24bit] (1993)

They are one of the bands that I recall winning an MTV video contest back in the 80s - a battle of the garage bands sort of affair.  I believe the winners got recording contracts and, of course, the opportunity to make more videos.  My memory is sort of hazy (for several reasons) but I can't seem to find anything on the interwebs about the show.  Guadalcanal Diary is another band that I remember from that series and that actually became a long-term working/touring band.

I can't find a link to the Afghan Whigs video contest. The only band I'm aware of that won a "Battle of the Bands" contest and got a recording contract was 'Til Tuesday back in the 80's.
