Sony DAV-C450
« on: 5 Dec 2004, 11:07 pm »
I'm new here so I'm starting out with a surround sound system that my brother just gave to me since he bought a new one.  I know it's probably terrible by most people's standards, but I am enjoying it.

I know Sony is big on SACDs, but is it true that I can also play DVD-audio discs on my DAV-C450?

I don't have the player yet, but I was wondering if it has a way to take stereo sound and separate by frequencies to make it like surround sound?

Thanks!

No, you can't play DVD-A discs on a Sony.

And the system has Dolby Pro-Logic decoding. Using DPL you can run a stereo signal in surround. It just won't be discrete surround sound like you'd get from a 5.1 audio source.
