I hope I'm not stepping on woodsyi's toes, but I can tell you that his special lady is Ileana Cotrubas.  For a wonderful introduction to her work, check this recording out.

Shep, I agree with you about Sacrificium -- Bortoli's performance is outstanding and the booklet does make for morbid, but compelling reading.

Yes,

Ileana Cotrubas is the coloratura whose voice resonates with my heart.  There is a father-daughter duet in Rigoletto that really touches me -- I am sure it's because I have a 7 year old "young lady."  It's the delicate fragility of her voice, even with the breathing technique wart and all, that bring out the protector instinct in me.  When she sings Addio del passato as Violetta, it just breaks my heart.  Since there are limited CD's with her singing, I have been scouring the E-bay globally to get LP's with her singing.  I have most of them. 

I think I will go start a worshing diva (singer) thread. :wink:
