For sale is a Cary Audio Rocket 88R F1 stereo amplifier in beautiful Jaguar Blue. Purchased from Upscale Audio a little over 3 years ago and used mostly for weekend listening, this should not to be confused with the first generation Rocket 88. The “R” version uses EL-84 tubes for higher gain while the original Rocket used 6922 tubes.  Then the factory added the Formula One (F1) treatment which includes Kimber input wiring, premium WBT speaker terminals, Jensen oil and copper capacitors and the beautiful Jaguar Blue automotive paint.  In the silver front panel are two Green “Cat Eyes”, which are adjustable and indicate audio power output - similar to some of the other Cary Classic amplifiers. Made at the Cary Audio factory in North Carolina, the Rocket 88R F1 operates in push pull triode Class A mode at 30 watts per channel or in Class A/B ultra-linear mode at 60 watts per channel, selectable by switches on the top of the chassis. Input connection is by either RCA or XLR.  Additionally, switches on top of the amp change the speaker output taps to 4 or 8 ohm. The amp is a tube roller’s dream capable of using various power tubes: KT88, KT77, KT66, EL34 and even the new KT 120 (per Cary customer support). Bias adjustment is manual, but is a snap. Included is a bias cable that plugs into the amp and connects to a multimeter (not included) which is available at your friendly Radio Shack or from Cary Audio. The following  tubes (all Electro-Harmonix) are included:  KT88(5, 4 plus 1 spare), EL84(2) and 12AX7(2). Excellent condition with some swirl marks from cleaning and a couple of very small pin head nicks by the far right power tube too small to photograph. Comes with the original owner’s manual and power cord (not shown). Certified payment or Paypal (add 3%). Continental USA only. SOLD
