Title: Balanced input stratos monos
Post by: daKat on 1 Jun 2018, 08:00 pm
Fully balanced preamp XLR signal into stratos monos. Anyone try this? I had half output, anemic sound. This is normal, correct? Should have full signal with an unbalanced input I would assume.

Thanks for the answer

The Stratos input is single ended only, so does not accept balanced input.

What does that mean?  I have a NAD C 658 coming tomorrow and it has the option of XLR connections. What are my options?

No worries here...it has both, RCA's and XLR's,  but ONLY USE 1 AT A TIME !!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, the XLR's are jumped from the RCA's,  but fully functional...depending on the preamp,  the worst case scenario is about a 3 dB drop...bottom line, the XLR's are fine...however, me personally,  I really, really, really don't like balanced.  I love the richness and tone colors of under-over tones of single ended...all about goosebumps....
