Frank - I have a pair of the Sovtek 6H30P's (not this 'high end' version) and they work fine and are very well made.  Every now and then I give them a whirl but after half an hour take them out as the 6N1P's are far more musical. You might want to get more feedback from other owners before blowing this much money on them.

The stock Sovtek 6H30P's are the least favorite of mine, after rolling them, the 6N1P's (runner-up so far), the 6BQ7's (fave) and the 6CG7's.  That doesn't mean the Supers you are looking at will sound the same, but just thought another datapoint would be helpful.

For anybody interested there is a free skin available for download so you can use your ipod touch/iphone as a remote for the Transporter. I went through the steps tonight and got it all set up. It is so cool to be able to use my touch as a remote control for the Transporter. You gotta love technology!!

If people are interested I can post the link and instructions for it...

Here is the link:
http://penguinlovesmusic.de/?page_id=3

Here are the steps I did:
1. Install SqueezeCenter
2. Download iPeng037.zip
3. go to the SqueezeCenter preference pane and then right click and go to "Show Package Contents" or just go to /Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefPane/Contents/server/HTML
4. Copy iPeng037.zip here
5. unzip iPeng037.zip
6. Find out about your computer's IP address
7. Go to <IP-Adress>:9000/ipeng with the iPod browser.
8. Bookmark (or webclip) this page.
9. Have fun.

I think this is so cool that I am able to use my touch as a remote! And it saves me the money of buying the Controller.

Thanks.

I had some serious connectivity issues when I tried to load SqueezeCenter a month or so back, so I'll probably wait for an official release before giving it a go.  Nevertheless, I appreciate the link and directions.

When you sat you had issue, was it Squeezecenter in general? Or moving to version 7.0? I am running 7.0 on Leopard with no issues; hopefully when my Transporter shows up today it will connect with no issues.

I'm presently using SlimServer.  When I "upgraded" to SqueezeCenter (7.0), I lost connectivity on both my Transporter and the SB2 running in my stepson's room.  I tinkered with trying to get them reconnected for a couple of hours with no luck.

I don't know if the download was somehow corrupted or if something else made things go haywire.  I've had occasional problems with nightly downloads over the past few years (both PC and Mac), so I'm inclined to wait this one out.

I was/am running a fully-updated Leopard, too.

A question though, I have not hooked it up to my system yet but I have powered it up to get the tubes running. The rectifier tube has an orange glow to it, but the signal tubes do not. Should there be any glow to the signal tubes when it is idle but powered on?

Start a gallery, import into that, then show the image in your post from the gallery url of that picture....i.e click on the picture in the gallery, right click and go to "view image", and copy-paste the URL into your image area "(img)audiocircle-url-of-your-copied-image(/img)"

replace parentheses with brackets (or use image button in message editor) and of course don't use the quotes.

Now I really need some help. The second I flip on the Dan's power switch to fire up the tubes I get a giant hum through my speakers. As soon as I turn it off the hum is gone. Any ideas?

I cannot even get music plus the hum, I am only getting the hum!!!!
