Clari-T, Custom DacKit & Speakers
« on: 19 Mar 2005, 08:39 pm »
I just received the Custom DacKit Friday and it really sounds great.
Vinnie modified the board to help the bass and I did pick up a more
noticeable bass than what I had before. Vinnie does a great job on
these components and I'll take his suggestions on modifications
anytime. I also got a short pair of interconnects from Vinnie and they
are really nice. I had been using the tubed output stage of a modified
Jolida JD-100A going straight to the Clari-T amp. This sounded really
good but I wanted to see what the Clari-T sounded like without going through any tubes. The sound was great, even more detailed than before. I am using the FT-1600 MKll speakers by Bob Brines and they are a great match with the Clari-T, as it is with many speakers. I just received the speakers this past week so they are not even broken in yet. Using these speakers with the Clari-T was like removing a layer of haze. When I added the Custom DacKit another layer was gone. It seems like you just can't go wrong with Red Wine's products.
Vinnie, Thanks making such a wonderful sounding system possible at such an affordable price. Keep the new products coming.

Thanks for posting.  Out of curiousity, what products were you previously coming from?

Thanks

I had recently bought a Korneff 45SE and before that I just had some
commercial ss receivers. The speakers I was using I bought in 1974 and
were made by Utah Electronics (12" bass, Die cast compression horn & 2
horn loaded dome radiators 20-20k 8-ohm). I still like them a lot and
the Clari-T had no trouble driving them. I got the FT1600's because I
had purchased the 45SE and I wanted a "SET with an efficient single
driver" setup. The 45SE is really a great sounding amp, very detailed
and quiet, I'm sure I'll always have it, but the Clari-T is that and
more to my ears. I've had the 45SE connected twice since I received the
Clari-T, once to compare the two amps and the second time to see how it
sounded with the FT1600's. Jeff Korneff makes a great amp and it is
absolutely no slight on his equipment rather a compliment to Vinnie's
Clari-T.
   Thanks for asking.
