The Teles are fairly neutral sounding with excellent detail, and the Brimar Yellow Ts are some of the warmest 12AT7s, with very good presence ever manufactured.  Both types are expensive if they are tested correctly.  I sold some Brimar Yellow and the later White Ts here on AC a while back.  I still have a pair of both the Yellow and White Ts which I'm keeping until I get some more for a reasonable cost.

thanks  for the info,  so the Brimar Yellow's   do have a  warmer sound.

how would you rate, the bass/midrange/ highs  and also soundstage?   for both

Since the Teles have more neutrality and detail, the bass and highs are probably better for the majority of listeners.  The Brimars have a beautiful midrange and a fuller sound.  Depends on the type of sound you like to choose one over the other.

ltr317, do you have any idea how the GEC A2900 sounds compared to these? I've heard the TFKs and the Brimers (and agree with your descriptions), but have never heard the GECs.

No.  I've been trying to get some A2900s for years at a reasonable cost with no success.  They are even rarer than the Yellow Ts.

   Brimer? Try some of these,

I like Telefunken better then Brimer.

One other choice for you to consider is the Mullard 6201 gold-pin. :thumb:

On the Berning ZH270 the Brimar was preferred over the Telefunken ECC801s.
In a friend's VTL750, the Mullard was preferred over the GEC A2900.
