I've had both - the Sony is a Piece of Sh!t and should be avoided - audio dropouts, which require power cycling to fix. Freeze ups in the streaming video, which require power cycling to fix. Remote becomes unresponsive, which requires completely unplugging the unit and replugging it back in to fix. Exchanged that crap for the Samsung 6500 and its much better. Samsung also have a more modern/better user interface.
One note - the Samsung sound settings all default to "crappy", so double-check that they are appropriate for what you want. I turned off the dialog compression and I also turned off the downsampling setting - it was downsampling all 96khz audio to 48khz data. After that, sounds great. Great picture too.
