I am in the mode of trying to decide on what to get to replace my Cary 303/200 at the under $3k price point. I like the sound but feel there must be better at the price point in terms of midrange accuracy and focus.
A number of folks suggest the Sony DVD S7700 modded by Empirical as a transport, coupled to any number of flavorful dacs like the ack (which I own) or a modded P-3A or others.
If anyone in the Denver area would like to bring over a transport for a spin, I can supply some vino and hospitality or I would be glad to make a trek in the Denver area. I can offer some breakin time on my Mobie in return perhaps.
If anyone has an EA modded cd player that might fit my bill that would be great to hear as well.
