Grado is the only brand of headphones I've ever owned. I haven't owned a pair for a couple of years now, but somehow I want those. $600 - it may be a while. Thanks for the post.
If you love the Grado sound, stick with it, but before you do give other cans a real chance. I bought Grado RS-1s over the top Sennheisers years ago and enjoyed them. That was 10-15 years ago, when they were highly rated and cost about $1000. A while ago I bought Senheiser HD800s, and found the RS-1s were unlistenable to my ear - smeared soundstage, shrill. A few weeks ago, I bought the LCD-2s, and while the HD800s still sound very good, the LCD-2s, to me, sound better. Moral? I always make a mistake when I don't open my ears to other options.
