DEQX vs. Passive Version/s with HT3's
« on: 14 Sep 2008, 12:06 pm »
Hi all,

Hopefully Jim will chime in here about this one.  One thing for sure, I know the DEQX is offered as an option so ineviteably, there may be some "of course the DEQX sounds better since it costs more", etc.  I have heard speakers with and without the DEQX and find it to be a nice tool, especially when all the passives are out of the equation=increased headroom for the headbangers:))!  But it obviously helps with equalizing in room response.  However, I feel it can impart a sound that is not so good to the signal.  I.E. Signal integrity is lost, at least when you have top shelf front end components.  It almost comes down to trade-offs=Do you want to have a little more dynamic sound with some equalization help or do you want to maintain the fidelity/purity of the sound and simply apply room treatment where necessary, etc. etc.

To get to the point of the subject at hand:

1)  What is the majority of user experience/listening with the DEQX version vs. the Passive version?

2)  What do you like more and less about each version...pros/cons of each?

Thanks all and enjoy the sound...
