Amp idle power dissipation?

What's the power draw of the amp at idle and at peak load? Thanks!

Hi Andrew,

Idle current is around 0.25A.

Peak current (instantaneous current draw) could exceed 10A at max power into low impedance loads.

Charging power

Hi Vinnie

How much power do the UltraCaps consume when they are charging?

When you say that the UltraCaps can last 500,000 cycles, could you explain what a 'cycle' involves? Does it mean when the UltraCaps are completely drained and charged equals 1 cycle?

Many thanks,

Best Regards
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

LIO features a current limiting circuit for the ultracapacitor bank charging, and when they are charging, the power consumption is approx. 60W.

One cycle is going from a charged state to some lower charge state, and then back again to the charged state.

I did speak to an engineer at the company that makes the Ultracaps in the LIO and explained how we are using them, and the thinks they should easily go beyond 500,000 cycles the way we are using them.  And they are covered under LIO's 10-year warranty.  :)

All the best,

Vinnie
