So what would people recommend for mid 90's sensitivity dipole tweeters

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Comes to mind a Alpair paper cone, spl are 85dB though>

A dipole tweeter have to have a cone, domes usually emit sound only to front.

There is a new kid on the block too.

No affiliation, just know the engineer and he told me that they will be selling to the DIY market.

Wow,I like the look of the radian 6” planar with the wave guide. Now they need to offer it with out the woofer. Looks like it would make a nice line source.

Thanks for sharing.
I’m a +1 on the neo3 and neo8 love and have used them both.  :thumb:

Raven is my choice, however AMT tweeters have me smitten lately.

Raal Dipole 140-15D. 93dB. Mortgage the house.

I also lived with the Dayton AMTPRO-4 for several years. It’s an open back AMT. The response was rough and they were underwealming so I don’t necessarily recommend. That being said they are 94dB and currently $120. I believe Aurum Cantus has a similar model which may be a bit better, but I have not heard them personally.

Can you describe the difference with back closed vs open for the tweeter ?
My vote goes for the B&G neo 3's.

By definition an open baffle gets its wonderful spacious sound (boxless) by exploiting the dipole emission of speakers. For coherence this should include all drivers - bass, midrange and tweeters.

Why would you compromise the set up by having just a forward firing tweeter?

In my eyes all drivers should have similar character, an example would be for them all to have alnico magnets, paper cones.

With the Zenith OB's I use a closed rear firing tweeter to compensate for the closed front firing tweeter.

Interesting
How are they wired (series/parallel) and what does it do to the impedance and sensitivity. Also are there any phasing issues?

Phasing issues? With wavelengths that short?

I 3rd (4th) the Neo3 rec.  Almost a perfect OB tweeter.

Those opposed tweeters are wired parallel with reverse phase on the rear tweeters.
