He makes some good points. I note that the British Audiophile acknowledges in his review that the actual power output is nowhere near the lofty numbers that Fosi publishes. I think Fosi does themselves a disservice by (i) publishing those specs and then (ii) bundling the unit with a power supply that guarantees it will not make the published specs. It would be far better for them to just bite the bullet and bundle the 48v power supply to maximize output. Even if it increases the cost a bit, it would still be a fairly low priced amp. That said, the Fosi amp has been reviewed by several reviewers and none of them, including British audiophile, seem to have heard the high pitched whine that Robinson encountered in his testing. It is quite reasonable to postulate that Robinson's setup/system has something that caused those amps to pickup the whine, since none of the other reviewers commented on it. I also note that Robinson does grudgingly recommend the Fosi amp out of all the amps he tested.

All these Chinese chip amps have very exaggerated power ratings.  If you look at their specs, peak power is usually at 10% THD.  If you read amazon reviews on these type of amps they have greatly mixed reviews and poor reliability.

If I was going to buy a chip amp, I would go with this Dayton Audio amp-

The THD on this one is 0.06% at its rated power output.

or this one-

If you do decide to go with Naim like a few people mentioned, I would listen with the rest of your kit first.
Naim are bright and artificially Sharpe. Focal are bright / shouty and in your face, Focal plus Naim sounds like a recipe for having something screeching at you.
I know a few people are going to say Focal now own’s Naim, so they should in theory work together. They have meant to have re-designed the new Naim electronics to work with Focal speakers. Still try before you spend your money and let your ears be the judge.

This video made me laugh as it talks about what I was saying about in my post. On the video jump to time stamp 4:15 to hear what OCD Hi-Fi Guy had to say on the subject.
