GT5 - Fantastic racing game. I can't speak highly enough of it.

MW2 - Best FPS game I've ever played. Black Ops is the newest, but they're still working out the bugs. Despite $1,000,000,000 in sales, they still can't seem to fix the lag, messed up party system, and various other annoyances.
When they do, it's gonna kickass.

LPB - Definitely for kids. They'll soon have LBP2. Great to expand the imaginations of the little ones.

Sign up for Netflix. Stream movies.  :thumb:

Little Big Planet 1 or upcoming 2

Uncharted series

Those are the 2 exclusive franchises that are a must for any PS3 owner

Red Dead Redemption and all the downloadables, is a great story and
Netflix is one awesome app that everyone should and could play.

Enjoy your blu-ray player.

A fun variation of the racing game is the zero-g racing of The Wipeout series. Great techno tracks to boot (and weapons to knock out the other racers!). Available for download.

I third the GT5 and need for speed for racing.  Both show great detail on the cars and road but different reasons for driving.

The boys will probably get lbp today with their Christmas money.

Are their any fps games that easy on the gore?  Like time splitters if anyone played that.  You can shoot and blow things up but you don't get the guts and language.

I am interested to see what's on line.  Is on line purchase, rent, free?

Rich, Online for the PS3 is free. Regarding gore free (or gore "reduced"), the COD/MW2 isn't too bad. In fact, there's a setting early on when you play the game the first time for no blood splatter, and no language.
Now granted, any game played online is subject to the fruit baskets that enter your lobby.
They can turn a rated "E" game into an "M" pretty quickly.

"Fallout" New Vegas is a good FPS, but very gory.
My son plays Bioshock. It's an interesting FPS, but has a bit too much gore.
