home network appliances - surge protection / power conditioning?

I'm updating my home network of cable modem, router/firewall, switch, NAS and WAP.   Great article over at Computer Audiophile regarding making dedicated appliances for more trouble free performance.

As part of this, I figured it was a good time to install a modern power conditioner / surge protector device to plug it all in to.  I looked briefly at Costco and they offer a Cyber Power device with Battery backup, some form of automatic power regulation and surge protection.  For $90 it appears to meet the criteria.

I don't really feel a need for battery protection.  We have sporadic power surges, especially during the winter months in my neighborhood.  Surge protection is my primary concern with some power filtering/isolation a secondary concern.

There seems to be a plethora of devices from SurgeTec, Panamax, CyberPower, Furman, APC, etc.  Is there anything special I should be considering in sourcing one of these?  Would something like an old Monster AV, or Adcom conditioner suffice?

Thanks
Kenreau

www.zerosurge.com and UPS is what I use for my NAS and computer stuff.  This is all you need along with a UPS.

I got one of those CyberPower UPS from Costco for my PC and NAS in the office.  Audio room 2 floors down is protected by Zerosurge wall unit protecting 2 balanced 20 amp circuits.

What's your capacity on you NAS, Jason?  I got one 15 TB unit that's running out of room.  I am adding a 40 TB unit.
