I just had this idea and thought it would be fun. I pick a popular album, delete almost all of it's artwork and you try to figure out who it is and what the album's name is. If in 10 tries no one get's it I give the answer and someone else can throw one in. To be a little fair, I think we should indicate the genre and year of the album.
Here is the first one:

Genre: Rock
Year: 1977
Good luck!

I am no good at this game. The Radiohead one would have been better if the box included the "Radiohead OK Computer" part!

Well, Jerome and I are enjoying it. :D
Edit: Paul, close call. yes, Satanic is a look-alike/similar cover in some ways.

I'm stumped. There's just not enough visual information for me to peg it to anything from that time.

Maybe Metallica - Metallica
or Back in Black by AC/DC
or Black Album by Prince
but I don't know the release date of any of these, so I could be way off (and probably am).

It looks like the cover for the hard to find "Smell the Glove" by Spinal Tap although that was supposed to have come out in '82.
-
I can safely predict that this thread will die very quickly if people post a bunch of album fragments with NO visual information in them. Challenging is fun....impossible isn't.

Bunnyma357 wins the prize; an all expenses paid trip to Littleton, CO!
Wikipedia has the fictional album in 1982, but the actual release in 1984.

I'll step this up a little. Here's 2 album covers by the same band, with no cutouts. See if anyone knows this group at all.

No, that's actually not it. This one's released in 1981, and the band only has a "mostly English beat".
