Suggestions for Bryston with Altec 19 speakers
« on: 8 Oct 2004, 04:21 pm »
Greetings!
I never thought to do this as I thrashed about looking for solutions to owning Altec Lansing 19 speakers.
I've owned Bryston stuff for at least 5 years, and my first experience with my B60 was ear-bleedingly shrill.  Tried 'softening' the Altec horns with putty and foam and different cables...vibrapods under the b60 helped most, actually, but not enough.
Bryston gear has been on my list always to recommend to others seeking solid state.  Really make my Vandersteens 'right'.
I'm running the Altecs on tube gear now, but never thought to find out
'from the horses mouth' as it were, what anyone else might suggest.
It actually COULD be that the Altecs will never voice right with solidstate.
I've tried and given up, but that doesn't mean there isn't a proper answer.
Any thoughts besides trading in the Altecs?

I still think Bryston makes some of the best solidstate in the world.
