HT3 Room Size?
« on: 31 Oct 2005, 01:45 pm »
Rob, George, Randy, et-al,
Curious what do you feel is the minimum size room the HT3's can go in without suffering sound wise?

I was originally going to put mine down in the basement with more than enough space(1000+ sq ft) but am leaning to my den which is a 17x15(?) room.

Yes I know I should ask Jim this but I have bugged him enough this past week with all my questions.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Regards,
Jeff

Jeff, that might be a tough room without some bass traps.

If you decide to bi-amp, you could always reduce the gain and EQ the lows.

I heard them in a smallish hotel room and the bass was a bit strong vs the mid/tweets.  The HT1's sounded VERY nice in the same size room.

Thanks Rob.  That's what I was thinking and/or afraid of.  Either stick them down my basement and deal with the potential hassles or reconsider the QW.

Jeff

Rob,
Would love to but I think Jim has enough of my business with some 1801f's and either QW or HT3's.  :D

Thanks for the pm info!

Jeff

LazyDog,
I have my HT'3 in a room that is 13 ft. W x 20 ft. long  with another 11 feet extending into the dining room equaling 31 ft. Long total and these things sound fantastic. After listening to these speaker for a while, I just get so spoiled that I can't stand listening to my other speaker systems. Can't say enough about how great these speakers sound.

Lee,
Don't sweat it, I'm sure my wife has called me worse.

Thanks for the input on your room because I forgot to add that my room does have an extension like yours that may add another 13x14'.

Regards,
Jeff

I think you would be ok with the proper room treatment and placement (especially if you have it opening up into anothe room).
