As someone who knows something about Jewish law, I can safely say both this guy and his Rabbi are idiots.

A prime example of how religious fanatacism leads humans to outcomes that even the religion they purportedly follow doesn't demand.

But of course there may be copycats now, anxious to show that they are "more observant" than everyone else.

I feel bad for the guy in the bag b/c allegedly he was a well-respected air force officer at one point in his life...clearly some things must have gone wrong for him to act in such a nutty way (regardless of who told him to do it).  No respect for the rabbi who suggested it (whose quote is oh so telling)...

This from someone who also knows plenty about jewish law...
