How do I connect a 12v trigger connection with the output device a 3.5mm jack and the input device red & black binding post?

What kinda cables to use for this connection?

You just need a standard 3.5mm mono phone plug cable like this one:

Cut off one end, strip the wires and connect the tip to the red terminal and the sleeve to the black terminal.  A 1/8" mono phone plug cable will work also, as it is only .012" smaller, but sometimes they are referred to as the same -  3.5mm (1/8").

I bought several to trigger my mono block amps. If that's what you have in mind, check out the Rat Shack.

Hi Steve, when I strip the outer core of the cable, inside there are 3 wires in red, blue and white, do I strip them all and bundle altogether into the red binding post?

Thank You!

It sounds like you have a shielded stereo cable and the plug is a 3-conductor, with 2 insulating bands separating the three plug contact surfaces.  The jack is normally a 2-conductor, so it should contact the tip and the section closest to the plug body (and not the center section).

I see that Atlplasma had success with a stereo cable between his two trigger jacks.  I don't know if there is a standard color code, so you would have to check with an ohmmeter or continuity tester to verify which color wires correspond to which plug contacts (most likely red=tip, blue=center and white=ground).

You only need two wires to work correctly, and if there is an outer shield conductor , it is not needed for this application.
