Based on customer inquiries we've determined it's possible to produce a balanced version of the LDR3.V2 (the LDR1.V2B). However, due to the form factor & related space constraints this unit will only have a single input plus dual (parallel) outputs. It's perfect for those who only/mostly have a single balanced source but who run biamped speakers or speaker/subs. It will look identical to the LDR3.V2 but of course will have a different rear panel.  $1895 plus options - http://www.tortugaaudio.com/product/ldr3-v2b-balanced-passive-preamp/

The second pic is a draft 3D rendering of the unfinished rear panel. The 7th XLR hole on the right is for the dual USB jacks.

What's the difference between this and the balanced tour unit other than the number of inputs?  Is it sonically the same?

What's the cost for a complete kit less enclosure, connectors etc?

The LDRxB (tour unit) has 3 XLR inputs, 1 RCA input, 2 XLR outputs and 1 RCA output.

The LDR1.V2B (it's LDR1, not LDR3...my mistake), since it's a single input, has no input switching hardware compared to the LDRx so it's arguably and cleaner connection. However, the audio input/output does have to go through a relay whereas on the LDRx it's all LDRs and no relays in the signal path. You could argue that the simplicity of the LDR1 may have a sonic edge over the LDRx but that's speculative.

Do not have a kit version of the LDR1.V2B at this time.

Sounds great.

Here are pics of our latest offering, the LDR1.V2B. A single input, dual output balanced passive preamp. This unit sounds fantastic and since it's a single input design there is no input switching circuitry or signal pathways. Pure in and out.

The unit in this pic has the optional Cardas XLRs. Standard XLRs are the black Neutriks. Comes in silver front/rear panel as shown  and also the all-black Darth Vader.  :thumb:
