Batch-renaming in iTunes using XML export\import

I suspect with all the FLAC stuff you guys are into I suspect this may not apply, but anyway—if you are using iTunes and you have a need to batch rename a bunch of cocked up tag fields I found a cool way to do it.  Like for example, if you've got anything from allofmp3 the dopes have grave accents ` instead of apostrophes in the Name fields.

1. Do a search for the offending string
2. Select all
3. New Playlist From Selection
4. Export as XML file
5. Open XML file in text editor
6. Find\Replace offending string
7. Save XML
8. Go to iTunes and DELETE the cocked up songs (don't move to trash! Obviously.)
9. Import the XML file - it becomes a new playlist which you can delete if desired
10. Bob's your uncle.  All the stuff you changed should be reflected in the names, in my case, all the grave accents turned into apostrophes.

Now I just have to figure out what "Convert ID3 Tags" does exactly.  I'm hoping this bakes whatever iTunes-based info you have into the MP3 itself.  Not sure.
