Laura,

Sounds like your experience mirrored mine.   :thumb: :thumb:

George,

I had not seen her before and quite frankly, I was not expecting the concert to be as good as it was. She is one incredibly talented lady. Glad to hear her shows are consistent. I called my daughter in Dallas and told her to get tickets and go.

John Mellencamp & Bob Dylan at the Greyhound Prk & Event Center, Post Falls ID

Mellencamp and his band were terrific--lots of energy and great rapport with the audience. While Dylan's band are very accomplished musicians, the Dylan potion of the concert was disappointing. It is almost impossible to understand his lyrics, even when you know them by heart, and I did not care for the new live renditions of some of my favorite Dylan songs like Memphis Blues Again, Lay Lady Lay, Tangled Up in Blue, Just Like a Woman, and Like a Rolling Stone.

Rodrigo Y Gabriela at the Greek in Berkley Ca.

Unless you have heard their music I really can't describe it. All I have to say about their concert at the Greek was that it was INCREDIBLE!!!

 Hi VLII,

Dylan wasn't bad, just a little disappointing. But, to see the poet laureate of our generation live at age 69 is something special for sure. My friend who owns the local vinyl store was there and thought Dylan was terrific. He had seen him several times before and wasn't surprised by the different arrangements of the songs.

I'll definitely take you up on your offer. Maybe we should find a show somewhere in the middle of the country and meet there  :thumb:

My last live show was (also at the Greek Theatre):

Norah Jones, the very last performance of her "The Fall" tour in Berkeley, Ca.   It was amazing, she did a song no one has even heard before (duet with Sasha Dobson).  At the end she did 2 awesome songs for an encore, with her whole band being huddled around only one microphone.  The opening act was Corinne Bailey Rae, she was great as well!

Hi there,

Not been at the show yet, but considering to go in November:
http://www.rogerhodgson.com/documents/tour.html

Roger Hodgson, formerly of Supertramp, will be a part of the ‘Eat to the Beat’ Concert Series Lineup at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival that Disney's Epcot Center offers November 4th and 5th in Orlando, FL.

I was looking at the Supertramp reunion tour (which does not include Hodgson) http://supertramp.com/tour and was frustrated that it is only in Europe.

Then I went to Roger's page and found out of his tours. (He authored and lead 39 of the 42 hit songs by the group) and found out there was this Epcot presentation but I fear it may be a background to the dining thing... It's Disney you know?

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Thank you!

Gabe.

Gabe, personally, I would rather see Roger without Supertramp than "Supertramp" w/o Roger, ya know? And if I were in the area, I would go to the Epcot show since the chances of seeing him live again are probably slim. But yes, Disney is probably going to make it a pretty cheesy event... still worth it!

Rusted Root!
Saw Rusted Root in Pittsburgh Sunday for their annual Labor day show. They are my favorite live band and it was amazing as always (sound quality at this venue is poor, but it is all about the atmosphere).

The band stuck around for autographs & pics. I didn't have cash for a Tshirt so got Michael Glabicki to sign my arm. So here I was with 15 seconds to say anything I want to the leader of my favorite (live) band. And what did I say...?

"Can you try a little harder on the countdown at the New Year's Eve show this year? We were a little disappointed."

He gave me this look of wide-eyed humiliation and said "Was it really that bad?" Friend and I explained that the countdown was off, it was kind of anti-climactic (we were hoping for balloons, confetti, SOMETHING), and the song choice was... well... lame. But, hey, other than that, the show was great.

Thank you Tara!
I think I will. I got an old friend kinda interested as well so I am making plans to go.
Thank you for your advice. I agree with you completely.

Gabe.

Caught Eilen Jewell at a small club Saturday night -  www.eilenjewell.com

Her material and band is exceptional.  I believe Eric Clapton referred to her guitarist as the best ever.  Jerry Miller is a legend going back to his days in the 1960s with Moby Grape.  He is worth seeing on his own.

Rusted Root is one of my favorite bands and puts on high energy and really fun shows.  I first saw them back in the early 90's in Rochester, NY (which they claimed was their home away from home) and have seen them dozens of times since then.

It's too bad that they tour so infrequently now.

He's one of my favorite guitarists also, simply amazing technique.

Strawberry Music Festival held Labor Day weekend at the Mather Family Campgrounds just outside of Yosemite. It was a superb time.  Here's a link to the music lineup.

This past weekend I saw Ray Lamontagne open for David Gray.  They played outdoors at Harrah's Rincon Casino.  Beautiful warm night, the sunset lit up Palomar Mountain and the hillsides in shades of pink and orange.  Ray Lamontagne is very intense and spot on.  10 to 12 songs and he killed everyone of them.  I thought David Gray was going to have a tough time following but WOW.  Much better live than I thought he would be.  Excellent sound and performance that just ROCKED!!  A very good show!
