Orgone opening up for Groundation at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, Ca

Orgone is dynamic jam band funk with a dynamite singer that used to be in Dakah Hip Hop Orchestra

Groundation is reggae, full up with horns, percussionist and full band.  I have about 5 of their CDs and it wasn't until about the third CD that I discovered they are a group of white guys from Sonoma

Sean Hayes at The Independent, SF.

Great music, great voice. He really seems to love performing. Lots of fun. I forgot my camera though-too bad since I was in the 3rd row.  Check Sean out if he comes to your neighborhood.

Band of Horses

The Independent, SF

They enjoyed the enthusiastic SF crowd. The best show so far out of my three times seeing them. Couldn't get up close for this one. I was about 10 rows back.

I am definitely green jelly :green: Band of Horses has become one of my favorite bands. After listening to Infinite Arms 3 times in a row, all three releases I own entered heavy rotation. Looks like a road trip is in my future to see these guys live.

Thanks for the post

Happy Memorial Day, especially to all you veterans on AC :thumb:

Trash Can Sinatras @ Slims in SF tonight!!!  "Legendary Scottish Band"

http://trashcansinatras.com/

My wife has been a fan of them for 20 years.

This is the 3rd time we have caught them live.

Beautiful melodies and lyrics.  Great acoustic band.  (No bagpipes  :D)

They were my favorite of all the acts.  Derek has such tasteful licks without trying to get in your face like a lot of guitarists.  Susan still plays really well and her singing is excellent.  They had two drummers when I saw them and the music was great.  My only dissapointment was that they don't have anything on disc yet.

Hank and Cupcakes.  An experimental, minimalist, pop, and funk duo.  Hank plays the bass at times like a guitar, using a pedal box to change the bass tones to guitar tones and still keeping the rhythm.  Quite interesting and good.  Cupcakes bangs away on the drum kit while stretching her pipes.  One of the songs in their set is a cover of Joy Division's "She's Lost Control."  Nice version.

Just got back from Vision Jazz Festival Day 2. This evening honored the invaluable contribution to the art of jazz by Muhal Richard Abrams.
First set: Muhal Richard Abrams, solo piano
2nd Set: canceled due to the passing of Fred Anderson earlier today.  :(
3rd set: Lifetime Trio. Joseph Jarman, reeds/Hohn Ehlis, guitar/ Rob Garcia, drums
4th set: Muhal Richard Abrams Trio. MRA, piano/ Ari Brown, tenor sax/ Harrison Bankhead, bass. Best of the night.
Muhal makes McCoy Tyner sound like a student.

Saw one of my long favorites, Faith No More in Brooklyn last night.  First time on the East coast since Sept 97.  Goes to show, if you missed seeing one of your favorites before they break up, wait a decade.

Seen them both before, but they just keep getting better.
Does anyone else convey the joy of sharing their music like Mike Stern??

Melody Jardot at the Fillmore in San Francisco. The Fillmore had tables and chairs set up which was surprising.
