BDP-3 MM Qobuz Sample Rate Issue
« on: 26 Oct 2022, 12:06 am »
Attention Manic Mouse + qobuz users!  Need some help.  I cannot get Manic Moose to recognize that my Qobuz Studio account is limited to 96/24 sample rate. My DAC only plays up to 96/24 sample rate. Manic Mouse is passing through 192/24 files full rate.  So those files now will not pay through the BDP-3 to my DAC. I just get silence.

Anyone faced this issue?   Qobuz thinks it is a Manic Moose issue.

Cheers,
Geary

I have changed my Qobuz sample rate to Lossless instead of Studio  so only 96/24 streaming

Thanks for the response. Sorry, I am not quite following your statement.  There are only two Qobuz subscription plans, Studio and Sublime. The only difference between the two plans is the discounts on Hi-Res purchases of up to 60%.  My account profile is set to cap streams at 96/24.  Qobuz sends 192/24 files to my equipment at 96/24 files.  For some reason playing qobuz through Manic Moose the 192/24 files come through at 192/24, instead of my qobuz account limit of 96/24. Those files will not play on my DAC, so they play as silence.

Are you saying that Manic Moose passes the qobuz 192/24 files as 96/24 because of your Qobuz account bandwidth limit? If so, that is what I want.  How do I configure Manic Moose to do that?

Can you go into more depth regarding equipment (DAC) cabling etc.  are you playing Qobuz via Roon, or MM?

MM services settings MPD, DLNA?

Qobuz settings within MM?

Sorry. I found those settings in MM.  I was set to Studio. I tried 24bit lossless, but it made no difference. Files were still delivered at 192/2, even though my setting is for 96/24 in Qobuz.

Playing via MM, no Roon. MM is via MPD. The settings for MM Qobuz is Studio, but I tried it other settings with no difference achieved. I am running the BDP-3 with Ethernet from a WiFi bridge. My bandwidth is 150mB/sec.  The BDP-3 is wired via AES/EBU to an AD1865 chip based ANK DAC4.1.  DAC out is RCA to my preamp, Bottlehead BeePre. Power amps are Bottlehead Paramounts. Speakers are rebuilt EV Sentry IV 3 way horns.

Qobuz thinks that the issue is with MM as my actual Qobuz settings are correct to send files above 96/24 as 96/24.

Hope this helps.

Can you get the player to function (sound is heard) using the 16 bit CD MM setting.  I'm guessing the BDP-3 is processing the 24/192 signal, but your DAC can't interpret it.  SWAG....

Is the BDP-3 playing the songs on the screen on the MM screen, but no music is heard?

I think we have it. I the set MM Qobuz setting to 24bit lossless and then rebooted the iPad. I rebooted the BDP-3, launched MM and now I am getting the 96/24+ files as 96/24.  Thank you freshaudo and vonnie123!  I am not a computer audio guy, mostly analog.  I should have remembered the computer “fix all”...reboot!

I am having a similar type of issue. My DAC supports 192k but occasionally and unexpectedly reboots while streaming 192k tracks. It's never happened on 96k or less tracks. I am going to change this setting in MM too, but am curious if this setting filters out 192k tracks from the qobuz library or does my BDP-2 down sample the higher bitrate tracks to 96k?
