All:

What are the main sonic differences between the Furutech gold plated connectors, and the regular ones?

Right now, I am switching back and forth between a Type 2 that is gold plated, and a Nitro that is not.  On my amp, the Type 2 sounds more organic, and more real.  More like music I guess.

I thought it might be the gold though since my outlet is gold also.

What do you guys think?  Wayne, any suggestions?

Thanks!

B,

The NITRO Power Cable has Furutech Rhodium Plated connectors.

The Type 2 has the Furutech Gold Plated connectors.

The Rhodium Plated connectors are FAR more expensive!

What I believe you are hearing is more the difference in the wire and the cable geometry. The Type 2 is made from tin-plated copper. The NITRO has a quite a generous amount of silver in it. The Type 2 is shielded. The NITRO is not.

Everyone has a different opinion of what is the right sound for them.

You call the sound of the Type 2 "more organic" in comparison to the NITRO. I call it "slower" with rolled off highs, "bloomy" mids and boomy bass

I suggest you leave the NITRO cable in for a few days and get used to the sound of it. Then switch back to the Type 2.

The NITRO is far faster and cleaner, to my ears.

The plating on your outlet doesn't make any difference in the sound of the power cables.
