Title: SP-1.7 Remote Suggestions
Post by: jethro on 31 Jan 2004, 06:41 pm
I rarely use the center, rear, and back buttons on the SP-1.7's remote. I would really like a "DISPLAY" button that would work in conjunction with the SPV to display the current processing mode, input signal, speaker levels, speaker delays, etc. Perhaps subsequent presses of a DISPLAY button could display more and more information. This would mean losing one of the center, rear, or back buttons. In addition I find it a pain to cycle thru the MODE button. I know there are discrete codes for the different modes, but I don't always use a universal learning remote. Therefore, perhaps the SP-1.7 remote in the future could make the function of the center, rear, and back buttons be assignable and named something else like A,B,C ? The SP-1.7's setup menus could be used to assign the numeric discrete code (3 digit number) with the new "A,B,C" buttons code.  This way I could have a "DISPLAY", PLII-FILM, and PLII-MUSIC button on my SP-1.7 remote. If assignable remote buttons were available, then perhaps the SUB button could disappear and act as a "D" button or as a "SHIFT" button to allow the assignment of 6 codes. I think this could all be done in software with no mods to the remote except for relabelling keys to A,B,C,D and changing the codes for the rear, sub, back, and center discrete codes. I already have a learning remote but I find I still need my SP-1.7 remote (perhaps I need a better 3rd-party learning remote).

Hi Jethro,

Ok - I will pass this on to our remote software engineer and we will see what he has to say.

Hi Jethro,

From our software engineer on your rwemote suggestions :

James,

Most of these changes are possible, however they would also require a software change in the SP1.7
We could look at it for the next revision.
