How does the E-200S stack up sonically, to the D-200 mk. II's?

Sound is very close... main difference is power output into really low loads... MKII's win that battle.
E-200S will do 400/channel into 4, so plenty into conventional loads. Similar sonics/performance in a single chassis for $1500 less than a pair of mono's.

That makes it a pretty good bargain, especially with the additional $500 discount. Besides the somewhat limited power into really low loads, would it a bad choice for certain speakers that dip below 4 ohms?

Yes they are a great value at $2500 and a super deal at $1995.

It can drive lower loads, just won't have increased power. Speakers that dip to 3 ohms won't be a problem at all, however Wilsons etc., that dip to 1.8 ohms... MKII's would be a better choice.
