One of several renditions of "Who Do You Love."

I'd take Quicksilvers from HappyTrails along with the Dead and Cheese shows.

BORN TO BE WILD

From the 1968 release "Steppenwolf"
   Steppenwolf Cover

Words and music by Mars Bonfire

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die

Born to be wild
Born to be wild

Speedway at Nazareth - Mark Knopfler, from "Sailing to Philadelphia".  If you haven't heard it, you owe it to yourself to track this one down and give it a couple of listens.

My first thought was this.

AC/DC - Highway to Hell works well too. :)

I see two categories here.  Can't just pick one  :D

My fav DRIVE FAST SONG IS Kid Rock, Bawitdaba.
I'll chime in again with my fav Slow and Low tune...need to think about that one.

Just one?  It's not possible.  I've recently been trying to find the best selection.  this is what I've come up with so far...

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, "Running Down a Dream"  (now, there's a simple but just perfectly executed guitar solo.  I love it!)
Chicago, "Twenty-five or -six to four"
Ten Years After, "I'm Going Home"
Cream, "Sunshine of your Love", "White Room"
Derek and the Dominoes, "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad"
Bonnie and Delaney w/ E.C., "Coming Home"
The Beatles, "Hey Jude"
Hendrix, "Long Hot Summer Night", "Voodoo Chile", "All Along the Watchtower"
Rolling Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil", "Paint it Black", "Gimme Shelter"
The Police, "Message in a Bottle", "Synchronicity II"

"Hey Jude" (already listed by Chadh) is probably my favorite (slower) driving song.

"She Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals is another fav.

Has no one mentioned the Beach Boys' "Fun, Fun, Fun" or "I Get Around" ?

From the vaults:
Brian Auger's Oblivion Express - Happiness Is Just Around The Bend
Loggins and Messina - Angry Eyes
Poco - Nobody's Fool/El Tonto De Nadie, Regresa

These played as we first drove through Monument Valley back in college (1975-76 probably).  Great memories and great driving jams, the latter a bit long but who cares when you have forever. 8)

Guided by Voices has two...

Quality of Armor:

Oh yeah going to drive my car
Oh yeah going to go real far
As we were sitting here in the final stages
Staring at the screen as the battle rages
You were finding God in the dictionary
Taking photographs in the cemetary
Oh yeah going to drive my car
Oh yeah going to go real far
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
Beyond the power of your clout

the worst offense is intelligence
the best defense is belligerance
how we stalemate our predicament
governed by tissue and filament

Oh yeah going to drive my car
Oh yeah going to go real far
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
Beyond the power of your clout
Beyond the secrets of this world
Beyond the Montezuma Halls

Motor Away:

When you motor away beyond the once-red lips
When you free yourself from the chance of a lifetime
You can be anyone they told you to
You can belittle every little voice that told you so
And then the time will come when you add up the numbers
And then the time will come when you motor away
Oh, why don't you just drive away?

When you motor away down the icy streets
You can't lie to yourself that it's the chance of a lifetime
You can be anyone they told you to
You can belittle every little voice that told you so
And the time will come when you add up the numbers
And then the time will come when you motor away
Oh, why don't you just drive away?

Come on
Speed on

ted_b - I was also going to suggest a Brian Auger tune but could not decide which one. Many are great to travel by. Good pick!
