In Jimi's camp: Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I think Jimi would have just tripped on what Frank Zappa was up to.  :thumb:

I mean, just total package, game changer, lady killer, icon, Genius, can you imagine coming into rock music in the 60's and being Jimi? That had to be the best gig of all time. Can you imagine making music that at that time made Eric Clapton think he'd be washing cars soon?

Jose Feliciano is bad-ass in his own right.  Seeing him play Malaguena one handed was mind blowing.

Hendrix...Child of alcoholic, and abusive parents. Junkie, herion addict, overdosed on pills and choked on his own vomit.  No significant relationships, no claimed children.  Dead at 28.
Talented, yes.  "Baddest man". not even on the list.

But if we limit to "baddest musician" whatever that means (perhaps most influential), I vote for Beethoven followed by Bach.  Rock is only a very small part of the overall evolution of music.

Hendrix was transcendent - but not "bad" - Link Wray was bad.

At 70 he was still the baddest man to ever walk the earth:

Lol, many of the worlds greatest talents had such issues. Since you like classical how about Mozart? Wasn't exactly a boy scout. Had a tremendously troubled life. Hendrix was a god in his own lifetime, he changed music (effortlessly, left handed, upside down, without lessons), he helped sculpt a better future for this melting pot via his fame and virtuosity, and he was nothing like anything that came before him. Beethoven was a lot like Haydn and Mozart in many ways.

Jimi Hendrix was a man who came from extremely humble beginnings, and while you point out what brought him down you forget he also served in the Army Airborne. Baddest dude ever.
