Difference between power supplys?

If I was gonna build a mos250 from kit, which of the 3 types of power supplys you offer would be best for it as a PA amp? Can you explain the differences, wether it be sonic or otherwise, of each?

Difference between power supplys?

There are really only two of the power supplies suitable for use with power amplifiers, the cascode power supply is for use with low level/low current circuitry.
The capacitor input powre supply is a simple rectifier and capacitor type. The rectifiers are ultra fast soft recovery types. This kind of psu is used in the vast majority of commercial power amplifiers.
The active power supply is a capacitance multiplier type with overcurrent protection and a shutdown input. It effectively eliminates ripple on the power supply lines without limiting the peak power available. It is obviously a much better power supply than the capacitor input type, but is also more expensive.
I would have thought that a capacitor input psu would be adequate for PA use - although the trend in clubs these days is towards ever higher quality amplification. In the end you have to make the choice between price and performance.
