Up for sale are my Hypex NC500 Mono Block Amps.  These are stellar amps and are in mint condition as I've used them for a short period of time and have kept them as backups.  However, it's time they get used all the time!

$OLD shipped to your door in the USA

Cases are 8"W x 11" D x 3" H

I'm quite interested, and trying to find out more info.

I've spent a lot of time trying to find the difference between the DIY NC400 and this, and haven't come up with much of anything (basic specs, etc).

Thanks!

Not sure exactly what you’re looking for, have you seen the data sheet?

Thanks.  I did manage to find that about 15 min ago (sorry).

I don't know if you recall, but you were the one who propelled me to build the Class D Audio amp several years ago.  So, many thanks.

So my current understanding is the NC500 is similar to the NC400 but you can customize the input stage?  Does this have the Hypex default one, or something else?  I'm assuming you assembled it yourself?  Any other info is also greatly appreciated.  I'm assuming your price is for the pair. Is this right?

Thanks again.

It has the stock input buffer which those measurements reflect.  The others have no measurements and flavor the sound.  I prefer neutral.

Feel free to send a PM if you have other questions.

There are vendors that sell NC500 amps and alternative input stages.
https://www.nordacoustics.co.uk/products
https://www.apollonaudio.com/apollon-hypex-nc500-class-d-amplifier-nc800-sl/

Probably worth it if you are buying the amp that way. Probably not if you are buying an existing amp.
I'm pretty sure these alternates aren't changing the basic sound of the amp. Adding a flavor. The kind of thing that is a very small difference and that audiophiles exaggerrate as if it a huge one.

Thanks, @Firedog, and you of course are the other one I need to thank for all the great advice and help with the ClassDAudio amp.

For this one, I will be using it with Dirac room correction software, so starting with something neutral as possible is a plus (and any in-house coloration would be wasted on me).  In fact, my biggest hesitation is that after room correction, they might come out sounding identical to what I have now.

I don’t think these amps will give you the proverbial “veils have lifted”, blah, blah. I think you will notice some difference, even if it isn’t huge.  I’d expect some overall improvement, and better abiliity to drive the speakers. The fact that they are monoblocs should also give a small uptick in performance, too.
