Looking for suggestions for a new MC cartridge. My music preference is mostly jazz and rock. System is ARC Ref 110 amp, Ref 3 preamp and Ref 2 phono. Clearaudio Ovation turntable w/Clarify tonearm, would like to keep it under $3000.00.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

The Ortofon Cadenza Bronze is an exceptional choice and falls within your price range retailing at US $2,309. It's a very fine tracker and when properly aligned is eerily quiet in the groove, with just a touch of warmth compared to the slightly more neutral Black version.

I think if you can, you should have a listen to the EMT range of cartridges. I am running EMT JSD S 75, it's £3600 but they do cheaper ones too and they sound amazing.

Miyajima Shilabe--new around $2800, used at least 1/2 of that.  Very dynamic, live sounding, great bass with punch, nice transparency, although good detail, won't make your ears bleed like some.
If it matters to you, great reviews.  Tracks best at 3 to 3.2 grams.
