Capacitor Polarity
« on: 28 May 2020, 03:22 pm »
This may be a stupid question but I am building XL-Encores with sonicaps. Does the polarity matter on the sonicaps or are they non-polarized? I don't think it does based upon the diagram but I rather ask now rather than fix it when it is soldered together.

I meant "X-LS Encore" can't figure out how to edit the post

They are non-polarized.

But be consistent and run them int he direction of the print.

Oscillate

"...run them int he direction of the print."

So if I understand correctly ...let's say the signal input is from the 'left',
then you would orient the capacitor so that you can read it's label and the
output would on the 'Right' side of the capacitor?

Moreover does that agree with the following...

"The line on the label (at the shorter lead-out end) indicates the outer foil.
This should be connected to the point of lowest impedance/signal output / AC end.
"?

Lastly, is this inner foil (long lead-out) / outer foil (short lead-out) & reading
the label from left to right an industry standard?

Thanks

Yes, running them in the direction of the print is a bit of an industry standard.
