You can also use the Bryston BR-2 Remote to control basic functions on the BDP-1 :thumb:

Play
Pause
Stop
Next
Previous

It works great when you load a playlist and can not be bothered with the visual interfaces. The Album and Artist are still displayed on the BDP-1's two line display as you move through the playlist.

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Samsung Galaxy Tablet – Android OS

Hi Folks,

Another device you can use to control the Bryston BDP-1 Digital Player is the ‘Samsung Galaxy Tablet’ running the (2.2) Android operating system.

The BDP-1 works well using the ‘MPDroid’ music player interface. Looks like the standard Android music player except controls Linux MPD.

Log on to the internet and go to the 'MARKET' icon on the Galaxy Tablet desktop and download the 'MPDROID APP (it’s free) by searching 'MPD'. Also try MPIX App.

NOTE: - currently need to put the IP Address in HOST (not- bryston-bdp-1.local)

(The Tablet will also run the Bryston ‘MINI’ and MAX applications).

Bryston Home Page for BDP-1 - type   bryston-bdp-1.local  into your webbrowser.

You can also type in the IP address on your BDP-1 instead of the bryston-bdp-1.local if your having trouble connecting.  The IP address is available through the front display by pushing the DOWN arrow when you see BRYSTON BDP-1 loaded on the display.  If you can not connect using  bryston-bdp-1.local then your DNS table is not updated or updating or bonjour is not operating correctly.

Gnome Setup on PC

James, just to note for me bryston-bdp-1.local under host name would not work, if I change to bryston-bdp-1 (i.e. just take out the .local) Gnome works fine. Good interface too!

Cheers

Thanks Alpha10 - I will try that myself.

Including '.local' works for me but 'Gnome' does not go through a browser so that may explain it.

james

PS - are you enjoying the BDP?

PS - are you enjoying the BDP?

I am absolutely over the moon, it is the least digital sounding, digital player I have ever heard. I do not see my Linn turntable getting much use anymore! Also for me having my entire music collection at my finger tips is just brilliant, I have been exploring all sorts of albums which I have not listened to for many years, having just sat on the shelf.

Also the blue LEDs look fantastic

Cheers

Hey alpha, Everywhere I go I see these Blue LED's looking back at me :)

They really do look stunning but I think I'm more jealous of the matching cosmetics.

Is it possible to do a faceplate change myself James to match my BDA to the BDP, or is it a factory job?

Hi James,

Just a quickie, I think you've answered this question before but I couldn't find the answer checking back.

I was in my local hifi shop today and they've got the BDP-1 on demo and they were trying to use the Max interface on the Ipad, holding the Ipad portrait we couldn't get the file list to scroll, it was as if it was locked onto showing 1 page only, what were we doing wrong  :?

Thanks.
