Advice for Model T amplification
« on: 24 Feb 2016, 10:33 am »
Hi James and everyone,

Looking for some knowledgable advice regarding Model T amplification requirements,
For one like me that like big sound.

Will one 4B sst2 can provide enough grunt and headroom to power the above
In room size say 19.5' X 13' X 8.4'   (9.6' between speakers) ?

If I join my second 4b sst2 that I already have in vertical bi amp will that contribute noticble
Improvement ?

Later on its look the correct path will be to add 7b3's eventually
but it can't be both at the same time, and I don't know how long.

Most of my listening habits
Big sound with lots of details:

Classical: Late Baroque/Classic/Romantic era symphonies and big orchestral works.
Jazz:60'-70' big bands

Then some
Rock blues/country/ prog: metal/rock

Mini Ts provide the stage for know and I'm happy with them like never before.

I'll Apriciate your thought and advice

Yitshak

Hi Yitshak

The Model T is relatively efficient at 89dB - 3dB more than your Mini T.

So If you are getting good volume levels with no clipping on your 4B then you would be fine with Model T's.

Thanks James

I thought so from earlier posts I saw but wanted to make sure
And hear from more experienced.

I don't get clipping with the Mini T's and they rumble as high as I like
So a 4b sst2 can hold it at my reasonable hearing levels.

So an extra 4b sst2 is not something of need.
That's real help as I can keep my second system running in that period
Which is very important for me.

But to clarify for myself:

by adding one more 4b sst2 does it provide any extra at all or could it result
In degrading SQ do to some reasons I'm not aware?

Hi

Because you are going through the crossover the second 4B does not really provide any advantage.
