My BDP-1 is dated 1113 and is Rev1. I did update firmware about 1-1/2 to 2 years ago.

The obvious digital out's are BNC and AES/EBU. Do all of the (4) USB connections function as both input and output connections or are the USB connections only input?

You can do digital out as well with those USB ports. I've done it with my BDP-1. Go to web browser Manic Moose page and click on 'Audio Devices' tab at the bottom where you can turn the inputs on/off individually.
