A heavy blues orientation but a really nice disk.  One of the guests is BB King.

Donald Byrd - Gigi Gryce (co-leaders) - "THE COMPLETE JAZZ LAB SESSIONS" (4-cd box set)

I meant to get back to these ... and so here ...

Lots of great 50's-style jazz on these. Different personnel keep each disc (and even within each disc) sounding different and fresh.
Interesting tunes and never boring. Always something going on, or just when you might be approaching a lull ... BLAM! A great solo cuts in.
Different personnel abound, but Donald and Gigi stay throughout. I'd say Gigi shines more than Donald, but perhaps because Donald hadn't yet hit his full stride(?). Donald is very good on these, but Gigi consistently plays more expressively.

Wonderful music. Good recordings. Informative 22 page booklet, though minimally packaged, but not expensive to buy either, so it's a wash there.
A definite recommendation!  :thumb:
