This was the very first CD I bought in '85 to try out my first CD player, a Denon CDP1500. I was blown away. Now on vinyl. A backwards move & loving it.  8)

Another find in the discount bin...

My first "Bird" record--Okidode Records Presents Rare Bird (Previously un-issued music of Charlie Parker recorded between 1946 and 1950..)

No idea who else is playing on this.

Has anyone ever heard of this label?  The blowin' is sweet, the recording quality ok, and the record is just ok as well.  Better than the Ronco I expected, but not a "wow", at least on the first side.  Oh and it is Charlie Parker, so it's got that going for it.

Two recording sessions in the summer of 1962.
On one, Bill Evans was accompanied by: Freddie Hubbard (t); Jim Hall (g); Percy Heath (b); Philly Joe Jones (d).
Other one accompanied by: Zoot Sims (ts); Jim Hall (g); Ron Carter (b); Philly Joe Jones (d).
Ok so that looks like a pretty sweet record.

Stan Getz /  Joao Gilberto* Featuring  Antonio Carlos Jobim   ‎– Getz / Gilberto

Saw Eliane Elias at Birdland last Wednesday and she credited Chet Baker for influencing bossa nova, I always thought Stan Getz was more responsible for that. Certainly this album is evidence.
