Rich, I'll see your Moanin and raise you Mosiac (some years later and not to be missed).  Cheers

Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers for those of you who might not know.

Sketches of MD/Live at The Iridium- Kenny Garrett Quintet featuring Pharoah Sanders.  The opening track, The Ring, will take your head clean off, if you listen all the way thru.  From the Mack Avenue label.

Sound Roots- Andy McKee and NEXT (Mapleshade).  Just in case there are some members who don't know about Mapleshade: www.mapleshaderecords.com/index.php, I suggest you investigate.  Very live sound cause of the lack of things like sound booths, sound boards, producers.  And if you happen to like jazz, this would be my recommendation.  VERY pure and realtime dynamic sound with real ambience.  You'll see.

This is surprisingly nice.  The man is a very lyrical player and composer.  Excellent supporting cast.  A bit of a treasure, imo, that I would recommend for jazz nubies and old sots like myself for its touch and feel and original compositions.

January- Marcin Wasilewski Trio (ECM) released in '08.

The Ballad of the Fallen- Charlie Haden & Carla Bley & company (ECM).  Boy, Haden can get the darkest, fullest tone from his acoustic bass better than anybody.  Economic with his notes cause each one is so complete and rife with feeling.
