I don't know if this is true or not, so please correct me if I'm wrong or if you find better info. But I read a short thread following the story covered by E!, and apparently there was a mechanical failure. I'm not exactly sure how this info surfaced. Of course it would have originally came from the car's computer, but anyway......According to the post, there was found to be a leak in the steering system at some point before heavy braking occurred, then the ensuing crash. Like I said, I don't know how true this is, but it makes complete sense. Take a car that is already difficult to drive at high speeds, remove it's high tech power steering, and the same car quickly becomes impossible to drive. Sounds about right to me.
