What a sad development. :(  He wasn't a brilliant or nuanced actor but he portrayed sincerity and charm in the roles I saw him in.  He helped make the Fast & Furious films far more entertaining than I expected.  The story says he was in the middle of shooting F&F7...I wonder what they will do with his character?

Hard to miss the sad irony though in dying a sports car that was speeding.  RIP, Mr. Walker.

I was bummed to hear this, as well. I agree he wasn't a great actor, but he always brought energy and fun to the films he was in, IMO.

Always sad when someone goes too young...

I just woke up and poured my coffee and saw this on the news.  Sad.

 :(

I was just talking about the F&F series with a buddy at work. And mentioning that F7 needs to come out as I want to watch a new one.

Gotta say I was always entertained by the guy.

Fast and Furious SEVEN?  There was more than one of those?  Apparently, I need to get out more often.  ;-)

I think the truly sad thing about all this is that we lost an apparently good person who was trying to help the typhoon victims in the Philippines. I doubt this is the only time he has helped people in need.

They're in the middle of filming Fast 7 right now. Who knows what they'll do with it now that he is no longer with us to finish it. :(

And yeah, he seemed like a good guy from any interviews & such I've seen of him.

I saw the original F&F and the 6th one but none of the ones in between.  Both very entertaining.  I do wonder what they'll do with #7 now.

It does sound like he was a good guy, and did charity work.  It's a shame he and/or his friend didn't drive safely.

He was not the driver of the car. He was being driven to some event by someone else.
The car was just a mess from the photos. Hit a utility pole then a tree. And was pretty much split near in half. With the fire added in.. Both must have been wearing seatbelts to not be thrown from the vehicle.
They had to have been moving very fast.
Sad.

Sad indeed.  RIP Paul Walker.

Here's a Porsche Carrera GT - picture taken last year in Monaco in front of the casino.

This August Pirelli, the tyre manufacturer issued a new tyre for the Carrera GT, so much better than the ones the cars came with originally one can only imagine what was the outcome if one used different rims and different un-original tyres on that widow maker...
Yes, and it is known in europe to catch fire even after crashing at very low speeds.

Such a shame this.

The driver was a professional Porsche team driver (Roger Rodas) , Paul Walker had owned several hi-po Porsches himself, and was a team member in the same racing team.

This should have been no problemo. Something must have happened.
Object in the road, sudden puncture, something like that.

The Carrera GT was never intended for road use. As it was designed after the wish/pushing and request of German Porsche Ace Walter Röhrl. He was the test driver I believe during final design work towards production, also...
He wanted something to epitomize the Nurburgring/"Nord Schliefe", in honor of Porshe.

I don't know if this is true or not, so please correct me if I'm wrong or if you find better info. But I read a short thread following the story covered by E!, and apparently there was a mechanical failure. I'm not exactly sure how this info surfaced. Of course it would have originally came from the car's computer, but anyway......According to the post, there was found to be a leak in the steering system at some point before heavy braking occurred, then the ensuing crash. Like I said, I don't know how true this is, but it makes complete sense. Take a car that is already difficult to drive at high speeds, remove it's high tech power steering, and the same car quickly becomes impossible to drive. Sounds about right to me.

this is a car model many owners (usually had owned other Porsches before) have trouble with, some spin it while accelerating in straight line. It is one of the characteristics of the car that make it desirable for some - the rawness of the driving experience. definitely not a poseur car. Even Rohrl found it scary. Jay Leno spun it too.

Here, Clarkson mentioned that it surprised even The Stig, who spun it a number of times at a rather (relatively) easy  course in preparation for it's record breaking power lap.

We all know that Tiger Woods can drive

guess how many kms he had on his Carrera GT when he sold it, 200  :icon_lol:

The developing story seems to be that the car lost steering causing it to careen out of control.  I watched that video on Top Gear, that was no pussycat of a car!  A hard one to control and very powerful.
