Nice a surfer too :green:
-
She is cute
-
Happy birthday little one!! Looks very spry for the age.
-
Love Precious.
-
Congrats Klaus, it’s easy to see that she’s one happy, well- loved and well-cared for ... and lucky pup. It’s truly amazing how they can so easily transform our lives, as she has so obviously transformed yours.
Take care,
KP
-
Awesome. I'm a doggy daddy too. :thumb:
-
Being a doggy daddy is a happy happy thing. That's one spry looking 126yo (in human terms).
-
She is such a sweetheart, very active and very well mannered. She is definitely "daddy's little girl!"
-
That's a pretty pup, and very alert for her years. My old Jack Russell, Rufus, is now closing in on 21. He's blind as a bat, and is pretty darned deaf. But his mornings are good, likes his meals, still doesn't like the cat.
This picture is from several years ago.

21...??...man, that's awesome. Keep doggy baby pics coming guys...you'll not find any more dog crazy people here on AC, trust me....
-
Beautiful dogs! 3 years ago I had to put down my 19 year old Italian Greyhound. We still miss and talk about her. Now I am dealing with an 11.5 year old Giant Schnauzer. They typically live 10-11 years but he is still going strong and plays fetch, jumping 4 feet in the air for 30 minutes every afternoon. However we take it day to day with him.

This is Kimchi in December 2017. She is now 9 years young... Klaus & Ira met her in 2016.

Here’s our beloved 110 pound Chow/Akita mix named Jeanxi (a combination of my mom and mother in laws name. Neither was happy with the choice). She was a pound rescue with no history and a few ailments that were mended.
She was my wife and my first ‘child’. She was protective (both humans and chickens) and loving and always eager to gently take your arm in her mouth and walk you around. She shared 10 years of her life with us. We miss her and think about her often. Rest In Peace Jeanxi.

19 is amazing. You are very lucky to have a companion that long.

-
Jeanxi, RIP...at least you have had spoiled and loved part of your life...
And the Gaucho puppy, cool...it's amazing how many of us go overboard, isn't it..then again, they all are worth it 100 x over and then some......if humans would only be that trusting and loving...

In the 90's the best hi-fi shop in my city, know defunct, where all audiophilos bought had a very kind, spirited and frank owner with all customers already known who said about his Chichuas mini dogs: they is that really love me, in detriment of his genius wife.
Now our city have no even 1 hi-fi shop, why unfortunately he passed away too early.
RIP
-
...This is our Sophie. She just turned 9 years old - she will be greeting and providing candy tomorrow to whatever kids “dare” to get closer! Some kids already know her and are lucky. Actually she is very nice
BTW, Klaus’s pop really...really kick ass!!

Fine looking pup you got there. Smaller dogs live longer, that’s a fact. She does not look her age!
-
YUP...and just came from the Vet...man, she's doing great...obviously I'm a very happy daddy right now..

My pet turned 12 years old last month, he has had 9 urinal clogs on account of several solid feed brands, the biscuits, all solid food brands on the market create oxalate crystals in the urine and clog the urinary tract of male cats and sometimes even females.
He was castrated too early, I was inexperienced and fell into the idle talk of a woman veterinarian who wanted to make a profit on him.

I grew up with dogs, too many to count. My favorite was a nasty Cairn that took on the role of a scolding parent. Second favorite was a mellow lab. In the mix was a three-legged Dobermann, a Welsh Springer, and a lot of mutts. All good souls.
I'm lazy now and don't want to take walks in the rain. Or snow. Or anytime I don't want to walk. So, thanks to my kids, I've become a cat person.
Giles is a good substitute for a dog.
I can't tell if Giles is smart or stupid, and I think he feels the same about me.

That stereo looks amazing, so jealous!
Still working on my first Kismet pair. Hopefully around christmas time.
My beloved “Sheena” rip. Is my avatar.
Amazing, smart, tough as nails. She dropped a 70lb pit bull, a uncles shepard “shana” @ 80lbs
And a few “thought I was rough” dogs at he Chicago dog beach.
Her buddy was a 180lb English mastiff, “Twinkie”.
Sheena was one helluva dog, at only about 60lbs, she was a helluva scrapper. My friends even commented at her defeat over my friend Sean’s pit bull and the 80+lb German Shepard at the dog beach.
In her prime, she was one tough SOB! PROYECTED ME with her life twice, and pounced on my cousins lil chihuahua. Story is cool, and makes me smile.......
I had just put my hand out, palm down to my cousins dog, honestly...... I seen the little shit snarl and one second before her charge to vote my hand, my Sheena who was on my right last time checked, came in on my left one second before the dog could strike, and pounced, paws on his body mouth on neck, lil dog was socked,p sqeelong like crazy, as my Sheena just held her ground until I grabbed her.
She was amazing and I miss her. One in a million. And she’s gone.
I miss her iommensly.

Beautiful dog. Was she a Curly Coated Retriever? Or an Irish Water Spaniel? I think the former.
-
When I think about the things that bring joy to life, dogs are towards the top of the list.
-
Im a lucky guy when it comes to animals.
Raising and breeding arabian horses on farm in Canada, we have tons
of room for cats and dogs. It also lets me play music
at any time at any level. Dogs will always be in my life.
These are mine posing on the couch for pics and shedding
hairs in my music room.
The jack russel has been my constant companion for
over 12 yrs now, the collie mix is my wifes, and the
boxer shares herself with the whole family....shes only 2.

Abbey was a curly coat retriever. My wife would say that she had me wrapped around her little dew claw ever since the first day she puppy pranced through the doorway.
The dog books describe curlies as loveable constant companions and ‘deviously intelligent’. I’d add stubborn, bossy (in the case of Abbey) and goofballs. Owners of curlies affectionately refer to them as ‘squirlies’. Abbey was a therapy dog for shut-ins and people loved her.

There’s an old expression from my Southern upbringing:
“The worst dog fishing is better than the best person working.”
I might not have that exactly right.

Awful day today. I had to euthanize my 11 yo 7 month Giant Schnauzer due to bone cancer. He had a great run at life. If not for that, he may have made it another year. I had a Vet come to my home and it was stress free for him. We had been controlling his pain up until the last couple of days and he looked haggard. But this morning he greeted me all happy, tail wagging like nothing was wrong. My son took him for 1 last car ride to the park and he loved it.
He will be greatly missed.
RIP old friend.
-
Man...so very, very sorry.............................
-
Bad news, I sorry for your loss ((
My cat have 12 yo, thanks Lord that after I have suspended solid food those cookies of famous brands and passed to give only stew boiled with water without salt his health has improved a lot and now he can walk and run like a young cat.

Thanks, it was a huge loss. Zeus was my shadow and our family guardian.
Diet is so important with pets. Although, my Italian Greyhound lived to be 19 eating mostly the cheapest canned dog food-Pedigree. I bought all sorts of expensive, high quality dog food for her but she would not eat it. She ate mostly Pedigree can food at 79 cents a can and some Science Diet kibble. Go figure.

My baby, (in photo) SHEENA
I had to put down a few years ago, I was tears before, during, and months after, and to this day I get a few tears when I’m alone, thinking of her. Sharp as a razor old Sheena, catch a rabbit in 6-10 strides, fast, and tough, never lost a scrap, she was only 60lbs in her prime, but took out a 4 yr old pit, a huge full Shepard at a dog beach, and my uncles Shepard at about 90lbs, she was a wicked scrapper, and I miss her protecting me.
My old English mastiff (Twinkie) at 160lbs, was a friggin beast, together they killed a coyote, those guys are mess as a dog shit*ing glass.
They brought just the back half to our door one late afternoon, wife called me said Sheena was dead, I sped home, OT Sheena, it was the coyote, Sheena was still in the fields fighting the other coyote.
Well over 150 stitches between the two dogs, they lived full lives, and kept our land free of vermin.
Proud of my old dogs.
Miss them.
-
Rough..very rough...
of course afraid of Coyotes...we live in the city, but in the beautiful outskirt of Indy with 3 farms and a lake in our neighborhood....so yes, Coyotes are there, for sure....but what I'm most afraid of are Hawks...they are frickin everywhere and keep in mind that Prec is only 8 lbs....we can't leave her out of our site for more than maybe 10 feet..over the years we had several instances where some of them actually circled down even though we were nearby....and then there are the eagles.....%@#%$(^&#$%)*&^%)*&% and Powder is anything but a fighter, doubt it that he will protect, he's just sooo sweet.
Anybody with a small baby should always be on their side....

Beautiful, Klaus. Thanks for sharing. Lost my “Scottie”, Sherwood, in April. Still “see” him when I come in the door. Don’t know when/if we’ll get another. The end is just too damn hard on me.
Dogs are such great friends.

Scott,
so sorry to hear man and completely understand ......and yes, I am acutely aware that baby is 20...probably be in the same situation as you down the road........
-
Klaus,
The photos of you and your puppies absolutely melt my family's hearts!

It’s amazing to get to 19 years. Wonderful! I’m envious. We tend towards larger breeds that only go 10 to 12 years.

Goodbye my love

So very sorry, Klaus.

I’m very sorry for your loss Klaus. That was one very fortunate pup thanks to the life you provided.
-
very sorry....been down this rode in the past year.
-
Sorry for your loss Klaus.
-
My deepest condolences, Klaus and Irina.
-
It's good that your dog had a happy life and was well cared for by you...
Condolences..
-
I’m so very sorry to hear this Klaus, Such a sweetie and all the care and love you gave her is so clearly evident in the happy pup in your photos. She was so lucky to have you in her life as you were to have her in yours. Deepest condolences.
-
Sorry for your loss, Klaus. They leave their mark on our hearts. You gave her your love and she gave you hers. Pretty good deal, if you ask me.
May you find peace as the pain subsides and maybe keep an eye open for the next special one.
-
Klaus, I am so sorry for you and Irina. Hang in there. The pain will pass, but the memories will last.
-
Klaus, I am sorry for your loss. You provided a wonderful home in every way.
-
Hi Klaus
Sorry to hear about your loss.
You took great care of her while she was with you
-
Hey Klaus-
Sorry to hear of your loss. Dogs are better than most humans and it sounds like you had a great one.

-
Thank you everybody...thanks so much.
Yes, I knew it was coming but still hit us like a ton of bricks....and yes, she's been absurdly spoiled since I rescued her from an abusive neighbor as a puppy....all of us who lost our pet loves know what this means, losing part of our heart. Powder already has enough of the overkill of affection he receives now, hehehee.
BUT...my post was meant as a celebration of life in the first place, and I'd love for you guys to keep this thread alive...keep posting pics and stories...and yup, Tony, you are absolutely right....
Again, thanks for your posts, emails and phone calls...it means a lot.
-
I know first hand how much Prec meant for them as I interacted very close. For some reason he liked to bark at me every time! I think it was his way to give me love... Wendy and I are very sorry for your loss!! I have no doubt that something else is in the horizon... We are also somehow preparing as our Sophie will turn 11 soon and she is a big 91 pounder.
Hang in there partner...
Best,
Alex
-
Sorry to hear of your loss. Here is my constant companion Champ...

-
What an expressive face Champ has. It must be hard not to spoil him.
-
What an expressive face Champ has. It must be hard not to spoil him.
Well, only when he's not stealing hamburgers from wifey...
-
Sweeeeeet...I love black and white dogs...see Powder, and Champ is cool....
BTW, there seems to be one fortunate side effect of the Corona stay at home situation: our neighbors black Lab also passed away 2 months ago, and they're trying to get a new baby from either a Lab rescue or a shelter, and this is completely impossible right now...people are adopting puppies and adult dogs like crazy right now.....wonderful.
-
Coincidentally, my neighbor’s lab mix is extremely ill and may not be with us soon... so sad, Haley always looked forward to coming over for a cheese treat.
On a more upbeat note I have another pic of Champ when he was a puppy (my favorite pic.) I actually got Champ for my wife for her birthday 5 years ago.

I tried to call you yesterday, but your phonemail was full! I did leave an email.

I live rural on a large acreage, together with my wife we raise show horses, cats, dogs
and kids for almost 25 years now.
The kids are gone, have lives of their own now, but my faithful companion of 15 years
is still with me (the jack russell).
I can honestly say that in my 60 years no other animal has impacted me more than he.
I was a small dog denier until him.....I find myself thinking about him not always being with us.....
I am not looking forward to saying good-bye.....hopefully he will bless us with a few more years.

For British humor, particularly if you work or volunteer in a "committee meeting" environment, try "Twenty Twelve" on BritBox. it is almost absurd and frighteningly real. Includes Hugh Bonneville and Olivia Colman, and is narrated by David Tennant. My wife and I laughed until it hurt but then we have both spent year in similar meetings.

When we lost Jerry, the last of forty five years of Borzoi in our lives, we were too old to assist 100 pound dogs when they needed help. After much soul searching;

Wow, beautiful dog. When we bought our Deerhound we considered a Silken Windhound and that may be our next dog after our Deerhound. Or we may just get another Italian Greyhound if we ever move to warmer weather away from Minnnesota.
Does you Windhound shed much?
-
Our Silken Windhound has acceptable shedding. They say that Silkens have different coat types and shedding may vary.

Thats what a breeder told us and there is no way to tell as a puppy. My Deerhound sheds some, a little more than we like but not as much as the 2 Giant Schnauzers we owned.
That is a great photo of your Windhound. It almost looks like a poster or print.

I started this topic because I was proud of my little shit, and it turned into a therapeutic remembrance for me...as probably for a lot of you guys with your babies as well....remembering baby fondly, but always with a somewhat heavy heart.
Well, it's been 4 months now since Powder passed away...as with Precious, we were always aware of kidney problems, with weekly fluid packs for a couple of years, and finally spleen cancer killed him..thankfully, pretty fast within 5 days of being superbly agile before.
Yes, Precious was hard, but the death of Powder hit us like a ton of bricks. He was the one. He was unbelievably angelic, probably the single most gentle being I ever encountered. And it coincided with Irina's start of her chemotherapy. So, as you can imagine, this really dark cloud hang over us for weeks.....and for a couple of weeks I didn't even pick up the phone, but it's time for me remembering him with my complete love for him. Man, I miss this beautiful boy, miss my daily hour long "talks" (not kidding) with him....
And thanks to everybody for letting me do this "therapeutic" posting...it means a lot to me.

Sorry for your loss Klaus, what a beautiful dog. My lab, Sailor and I, have many a conversation when no one else is around. He's way wiser than most know, calms my soul.

Sorry about the loss of your furry pal. Frankly, my conversations with Champ are more intelligent (and therapeutic) than most people.
Also, he *always* greets me with a smile…

Hey Klaus. How about some pictures of the new puppy 🐕.
-
Well, yes. It was just wayyyy too depressive and quiet in the house, and even though it felt like a betrayal to Powder, we had to get another puppy after 4 weeks, yes. Irina had her pick and with her condition, puppy was definitely supposed to be her dog first and foremost...and we got one !!! Turns out to be somewhat adjacent to Pow in many ways, and definitely, 100 % a sweetheart as well...but with so much more energy.
