Help with hum/hiss.... Thanks in Advance
« on: 28 Apr 2021, 01:02 pm »
I have a VPI Prime Scout, Cary Audio SLI 100, MoFi phonostage and a Furutech phono cable.  The cable had a flimsy ground wire attached that broke so I purchased an audioquest ground wire.  I can't ever remember the background being dead silent but recently I noticed it is to a point where it is bothersome.  If I touch the grounding connection on the table, the noise disappears.  Should I A, replace my phono cable?  B, replace my phono stage?  or C all of the above?

Run a separate ground wire from phono stage to AC outlet ground and be happy. :thumb:

Connect the phono signal ground to the AC mains ground? Really? Aren't those two separate issues?
