I love racing games and ordered this game from Amazon and had it delivered yesterday, it takes about 45-50 minutes to install but this game is gorgeous and very, very real feeling. Many racing games, actually most if not all could never get the feel of a real car correct. GRID's vehicles always spun out easily and ended up the same way..backward, no matter how fast you were going.
The real hoot here is because I pre-ordered I got a code to unlock a Mercedes, a nice fast Mercedes, really fast...this game is fun, flat out FUN!!!
If you like Racing and have a PS3 you really need to get this game it is imho the best-hands down-racing game ever put out.
Have a great holidays folks...I'll be racing!!!

To clarify, are the physics in the game "video game" or "simulator"?
I am a long time driving video game lover, but I like fake physics, I don't want to have to really know how to drive a car fast to do so while gaming, I just want sliding and fun!
-
Too bad it isn't available for the Xbox.
Gran Turismo was my absolute favorite game when I had a Playstation/Playstation 2.
George
-
Its I guess you would say simulation but its absolutely fun, not like work at all. When the car slides or spins it does so when the feel is correct...follow me?? It feels like your driving a real car and going real fast, online play is a blast....

Several people in my family are hoping for this for Christmas, including me. :thumb:

If you like realistic physics in a simulator then try GTR2 on a PC, preferably with a Momo Racing Wheel controler. I have used both the Gran Turismo on the PS2 platform and the GT5 Prologue that came out last year for the PS3 and think the GTR2 to be better than both. Have not yet tried the full blown version of the GT5 on the PS3 however.
-
I do wish this title was available for the 360, but honestly Forza is one heck of a title in and of itself..........
-
Considering the grand scope of the game, it feels astonishingly real to me. You have all sorts of cars to simulate, not just exotics and purpose built machines. The only thing is that by nature, force feedback wheels are designed to impart the sensation of g-forces upon your body, not merely the steering wheel feedback, so it will never be perfect when using a wheel alone, but that's no different from any other game.
-
The wife (Mrs Claus) was kind enough to give my son and I each copies of GT5 and a Logitech wheel.
He'll be upstairs on the 50", and I'll be downstairs in the man cave. Nothing better than Father vs. Son. 8)
I may quit my job to stay home more.
This game seriously IS a LOT of fun! My highest recommendation.

I just got this for Christmas. Nice graphics, but being able to ram other cars at will without even slowing down is just dumb beyond belief. The load times are also incredibly long, after an 8gb install there shouldn't be any load screens at all but they're much worse than Forza 3.
-
Agreed on both counts.....But it's still ultra-uber-fun.
-
I only have 5 laps around Monza in McLaren F1, but it was fun. Graphics are excellent. Crashes sound like subwoofer thumps rather than metallic crash. Looks like a happy Christmas at the BISL household! :thumb:

Its fun isn't it!! Once they figure out how to make the menu navigation easier and more integrated which I think will happen over time it will be better and better. I hate getting ready to race only to find out you need a certain type car and then having to back all the way out of the menus to buy it, find it, remember what it was in the first place-I'm old my mind is going...LOL. But it is fun!!!!! :thumb:
-
I only have 5 laps around Monza in McLaren F1,
In the arcade mode, go to "World Tracks" and choose Daytona. Then in the car section, scroll all the way to the right to get the fasted car called a "Zonda".
Amazing. :o
Now.....If I can only figure out how to turn off that horrible music. :duh:

Loading the PS3 as I type....

 ....... :thumb:
Do you have a (force feedback) wheel?
Bob
-
Nope, just the controller, its still a blast...
-
Wheels and pedals do add that little bit extra to the gaming fun. Buddy of mine has a wheel and pedal set for Forza 3 that is absolutely awesome. Initially it feels weird and you are slower, but over time you find that your times drop and you are more immersed in the game.
-
I think damage is earned in premium cars at level 40.
-
Got a ps3 for Christmas and this was the first game we bought. The boys absolutely loved NFS most wanted (we got the new one of that too). So many things we haven't explored yet but we're moving up upgrading and buying new cars. Graphics are awesome in 1080p. You can see the crowd talking to each other and but their arms up when you try to crash through the fence.

Maxcast--SWEET!!!! The PS3 can do everything for real....I use it for: Hulu, Vudu, Netflix, Blu-Ray, DVD-A, CD, you'll love it!!!! They have an option in the menu's which you'll find to use multiple audio outputs, so you can use the HDMI output for audio along with the toslink output. What I do is take the toslink output to my DAC and the HDMI to my AV receiver and when I watch Concert Blu-Rays and even movies I play them back through my 2 channel rig by way of the DAC, for movies I use the DAC and HDMI fills in the center and rear surrounds while the DAC plays back the front Left and Right. Technically for movies your getting 5.1 or 7.1 through the HDMI and 2 Channel PCM through the toslink but I use it exclusively that way and it great. I have a tube DAC so I get that tube sound on movies and concerts....very cool stuff, lots of options. Enjoy!!!!!
-
Ditto on the Netflix. That's just about the coolest thing in the world.
Screw going to Blockbuster....Just sit back in your chair and pick a movie. That's unbeatable.
As far as Blu-ray, I currently watching the Chris Botti - "In Boston" disc. Simply amazing.
In about an hour, I'll be removing Chris for the GT5 disc. Such a versatile machine, for so little....
Seems there's a few more gamers here now than I recall a year ago.
Maybe we should bump the "PlayStation Online Gamer ID" thread?
Didn't seem to go over very well last time I brought it up. :peek:

My cables should be here tomorrow. After I run it and figure on line out I'll be ready.
We're playing nfs right now and I gotta say it's pretty impressive too.

A Sony machine playing DVD-Audio?? I've never heard that; are you sure it plays DVD-Audio (and not just the DTS or DVD-Video portion of the disc that every DVD player can play)?

Works for me....Unless I've been fooled into thinking I'm watching something "else"..... :dunno:
The "Blue Man Group" DVD-A "AUDIO" sounds pretty darn good to me.
How would we (I) know?

What does your processor read out? The Blue Man Group "Audio" DVD had Dolby Digital on the DVD-V side (playable on any DVD player), and the much higher rez DVD-Audio on the DVD-Audio side. I'm betting $$ that you are listening to the DVD-V side cuz Sony does not support its rival.
-
On a bunch a Porcupine Tree CD's I have they included a DVD-A disk and it plays fine. Its specifically labeled DVD-A and I remember making note that it in fact worked. It wouldn't playback correct if the PS3 couldn't process it right? I'll try some tomorrow and see what my AV Receiver says when it plays.

You've convinced me. I was just going to buy an internet connectible Blu-Ray player with my Christmas dough, but now I am going to throw a bit of my paycheck in with it and get a PS3. Additional room treatments just got put on the back burner.
Gran Turismo is one of the greatest sims of all. I have owned several of the cars listed in the older versions and play them on my PS2. It feels fantastic to be able to "drive" one of my old cars again.

Can't recall. But next time I fire things up, I'll stick it in there and see what it says. Both sides do play, but what the AVR shows is unknown to me.
Thanks Ted. :D
Here's a funny story:
Played GT5 online for the first time last night. I had no idea what I was doing, so I brought the (bone stock) 199_ Mazda Miata with me. It's the one I bought as my "trainer" to start my career with. Some of my gaming buddies saw me online (for the first time) and jumped on the track with me. We chatted for a minute before I saw what cars they had brought with them. So I'm traveling along at the Miatas top speed down the straightaway of Daytona, right.....
They blew by at 250MPH in some million dollars cars I'd never seen before.
ZZZZOOoooooommmmmm................ :o
The good buddies that they are, then told me where the good cars are kept. :thumb:
Man that was fun.

tesseract, that was my thinking. I was going to get the cheapest oppo player but thought hey, why not get the ps3 and get a kick ass game player for free. In fact, wally world had a $100 gift card when you buy a 160gb ps3 for $300. That bought the extra controller and GT5.
Yesterday we saw on GT5 one of my favorite cars of my youth, a Buick Grand National. Not sure if it was the GNX (which I sat in one in college) model. Hope to drive that sometime.
-
tesseract- I'm sure the oppo's are nice especially if you can swing the SE version. The thing I keep seeing is the PS3 is as good at blu-ray playback. So my inner geek/gamer sprang into action. I take it with me to see my boys who love Little Big Planet we can stream Netflix or Vudu wherever I take it. Lots of options for $300. Enjoy!!!!!!!

I find more enjoyment, myself, in driving regular cars I could buy if I wanted to. I'll never buy or even rent an exotic, and I'll never know if the handling is realistic.
-
Agreed. I've done the same over the years.
But when your buddies are handing you your ass.....that's a different story.

The PS3 nor any Sony product can or would play DVD-A.

 As I type, I'm watching the side of Blue Man Group "Audio" that's labeled "DVD Video" on my PS3.
Many times I've watched the other side for it's multichannel content. That side is labeled "DVD Audio". It has great multichannel content.
Am I missing something?

Forgot about this experiment---OK
As I type I have Porcupine Tree --Disk 2 of Lightbulb Sun which is labeled DVDA, its mentioned in the liner notes as DVDA
I'm hearing it, sounds awesome!!!!! :thumb:
edit...I just went through the menu and picked the specific songs labeled as DVD-A and they play fine. Maybe Sony did a little firmware wizardry!!!!

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1170406
:) yeah, what, er, Woodsea is saying.... :)
As I stated earlier, the DVD-A sound you are hearing from PT songs on a PS3 is the DTS or other lossy (Dolby Digital) tracks embedded in many DVD-Audio discs...almost like hybrid SACD's. Sony is not a DVD-Audio supporter as Pepsi is not a Coke supporter. If you find a DVD-Audio player you will be blown away by the difference (hirez vs lossy). Don;t get me wrong, the PS3 is one hell of a blu ray player/amazing game machine, and the first ones even played SACD (DSD and 24/176k PCM...great for an Atlona box). Anyway...back to the thread...sorry for the hijack (can I blame that on woodsea) :)
-
So we got duped!!! Well at least it plays some layer so its not a wasted disk....oh well....
-
Sorry ted_b. In my rush I didn't look far enough up in the thread to see who had first mentioned DVD Audio was not possible on the PS3.
-
Kinger, no problem. It was me joking around; sometimes as head schill for high rez music here I get too carried away and feel like I am preaching. I must back off. :)
HOWEVER, this thread has pushed me over the PS3 limit. I have been toying with the idea for some time, and while my boys (all but grown now) have every game machine known to man in the basement "lair" we don't have a PS3. And while I can do all BluRay, SACD, DVD-Audio already via my Oppo 83 SE, it only does 24/88.2k digital (de-embedded HDMi via Atlona/Monopirce, etc..., see Atlona thread on HiRez Music Circle) the first gen PS3 will do 24/176 PCM'd SACD to my Weiss....AND will turn my music room/HT into a 7.1 surround racing circuit!! I gotta do this!!!! It's mostly redundant, wasteful and hedonistic...but I gotta do this!! :thumb:

Ahhh yes. I see now. :(
Thanks for the link, and thanks to all for the explanation.
Ted, yes. The picture you posted is what I'm talking about. :thumb:
Also, there's not only audio setting on the PS3, there's settings within GT5 as well.
Game on.

with all this ps3 love be sure to check out this thread. We can have a AC Daytona.

I am absolutely certain that he will!!
When I "broke down" and finally bought an Xbox a few months ago and installed it in the HT, I had forgotten how kick ass it is to play video games in a really nice HT setup with a huge screen! :thumb: :thumb:
Enjoy!

I could be over. I got the tip from this link.
http://www.gotapex.com/got-deals/185206-amazon-160gb-ps3-for-298-30-with-100-gc.html
So I went to walmart. Nothing was marked. Grabbed the ps3 and asked the clerk if it had a $100 gift card. He said yes and rung it up. Then went back and bought the controller and game. Give them a call.
-
Nice score!!!! You ready to race????

As soon as I get one, Eclein, one more paycheck. I'll have to boot up my internet speed, too.
Thanks for the info, MaxCast, I'll mention it when I buy.

anybody racing tonight say 8 o clock?
username bestbuds1

Bring your pink slip!!!!! 8 is fine....wherever you wanna race is good by me. :thumb:

You're in Michigan, so eight there is eight here.
I'll be watching for you Rich. 8)
"In".... I'll join your lobby. :eyebrows:
Bob
-
How do you race on line, what mode do you have to be in...sorry never done this before.
-
awh, sheeet. gotta down load a software update. Probably wont be racing tonight.
-
Are you in front of your PS3 right now?
-
Actually Rich, if I remember correctly, the download was like 45 minutes. Then it was another 30-40 to install the download. It might be 9:00 before you smell burnt rubber. :?
Bob
-
Where are you guys.....???LOL
-
Sent you a pm eclein
Gotta learn to do downloads before bed
-
Why is there not an obvious way to find and follow friends into a game?? Or am I just missing something
-
Here's instructions on how to get online (and to join a buddy online):
- Start game (duh)
- [GT Mode] click the "X" button
- Click down (left thumb) button down twice. This will highlight [Community] {"X" button to click that}
- arrow right, once. These are the people on your friends list that own GT5. The green dots mean you can join. Scroll down until you find you newest victim.
- "X" over their name. {"click"}
- Arrow down to [playing], then "X" again.
- Now you see a list of everybody that person is racing against. "X" to join their lobby.
Once you're there, have your mic turned on. I'll verbally walk you through the rest of it.
eclein, I see your message, but you're not online right now.
Bob
-
I should be signed in.....LOL....working on it
-
I'm sitting on the track..................idling.......... ...waiting............. :icon_twisted: :P
-
We just bought our fastest car yet. '09 Bugatti 263mph on the special stage route 7 track. $2mil plus upgrades. It beats the '02 Enzo by 8mph. Haven't bought any F1 cars yet (too much $$) so we don't know how fast those go.
...I love cold rainy days. 8) we need a good gamer smiley.

we need a good gamer smiley.
(http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/images/smilies/drive.gif) = GT5 8)
Rich, I sent you a message yesterday on the PSN....... "VROOM!!!!!"
Saw you playing GT5, was trying to get you in the race. One of these days, we'll get you, Ed, my son, and me racing at the same time. That'd be cool.
Bob
-
Do you need special equipment or will a standard controller work?
-
A standard controller works fine. That's what Ed uses.
But cool guys, like me, use a highly specialized highly modified wheel and pedal apparatus for the ultimate level of submersion in the virtual racing experience.. 8)
Bob
-
Bob's got some 2 X 4 strapped to his arms.....its gotta be something like that because he really can't drive or prick, I mean pick a good car!!!
-
I use a PS3 controller and when you set the game up you can pick the layout of the controls...there are a few options, I use the right stick for throttle-up is accelerate pull down to brake/reverse.
Left stick steers...you rarely use any others unless you like to shift gears-it is racing and shifting is fun, but I just like to hit the gas and try and stay on the track...
Another game I just got is : F1 2010--Formula 1 racing, its a blast but harder to drive at first, GT5 is solid all around racer...F1 is all about the racing, rules and all...
-

We started an endurance race and have 40 laps to go :duh:
Bob, Do you use a wheel that you would recommend? We are thinking about getting one. And, when playing on line can two race on the same machine? I can't believe we haven't raced yet  I will check our messages when I get a chance.
-
Hey Rich,
Not sure if two can race on the same machine, online.
The wife, son, and myself all have Logitech (think: Squeezebox  ) "Driving Force GT" wheels/pedal assemblies.
I made "lap stands" so the wife and boy could set theirs on their legs while they drive. I made a base for mine that rests on the arms of my home theater seating chairs.
I'm not done yet, just playing with scraps of plywood. But these "2x4s strapped to my arms" will give you the general idea:

Dude you could take those to an airfield.....
Maxcast--whats your tag? I just got on Gamefly recently and got "F1 2010" Formula One racing and I have been playing it way too much, its starting to interfere with my naps....F1 is open cockpit racing and as in real F1 the parts go flying!! If either of you guys get it, I highly recommend using "brake assist" for awhile until you get the hang of the pace, its very fast, as it should be and a great way for me to exercise my hands.
-
Well, the endurance series sucks. 2.25 hours to complete. got $150k and jumped to the next level with this one race...next race/level is..........4 hours, no laps, just 4 @#$% hours :o AND it's a Mazda roadster race. Better get an indy/F1 car after this.
What level you guys at?
Bob, that is pretty sweet. You each have one??? Has lots of good reviews too. We officially started saving for it today.
eclein, our name is bestbudies1
Hey murph, you a racer? You on line? If so, what's your psn name?
Gotta go to the in-laws for supper so I'll be gone for a few hours.
-
Hey Max, I bought a PS3 a few years ago for BluRay and am just getting around to games. I have COD4 and BlackOps and that's it so far. Thinking about expanding my horizons and saw your thread so maybe GT5...
-
Rich, do those B-spec races at night or while you're at work. Some of them are 9 hour races, and there's two that are 24 hours races. Yea....You leave your PS3 on for 24 hours. But at the end of it, you get a wheelbarrow full of cash, and a new car. B-spec is awesome.
Yes, the wife, son and I all have the same kind of Logitech wheel/pedals.
I'm level:
23 A-spec
38 B-spec
Since we're on each others friends list, you can see my scores, trophies, stats, bla bla bla..
You can also borrow the cars I've got listed as "shared". Ed has borrowed a few of mine. Go ahead, give them a whirl.
In addition, if you have B-spec drivers "shared", I can also race them while you're at work, sleeping, whatever. I can make you money (GT5 money, not real money) by racing against your drivers. Ask Ed about that one too.
You, Ed, me and everybody on your friends list can race each others drivers. Easy money.
Hey Murphy, I'm in Black Ops, CoD4, and MW2. Add me "Kryptosphantom" if you'd like.

Bob,his wife and son and I have a ball driving around the world....we mostly laugh and tell stories..Bob's son keeps us humble passing us at 185mph- BACKWARD!!! Grab a beverage, chips, whatever and come laugh with us...of all the medicine I take, playing and laughing with Bob has been the best one...........I joined Gamefly (by the way if someone wants to join Gamefly let me know-I think I get free months or something) and get 2 games out at a time so I'll try all the games I can and report as the official gameplaytesticle!!! My hot new title is .."F1 2010", Bob they are coming out with F1 2011 in September.....LOL...

Borrow Bobs 'Vettel" car--rocket ship that can turn!!!
Yea, what he said!
Especially the part about the Vettel. That's the most wicked car on GT5. It should be in my profile, use it Rich. Have some fun.
Bob
EDIT: By the way, I see Rich is level 4 B-spec.
Just like the Jeffersons, he's movin' on up. :thumb:

I got it!!! I got it!!!!! hahahahaa...Lol.... I saw the "CAR" I had to have the other day, a Yellow... Formula Gran Turismo and it was cheap 2.5million, gag, gag.....I love Yellow and Hi-Tech Yellow race cars that go close to 300MPH, well I really love those so I enlisted the help of Bob in St. Louie and his team of daytime SpecB elves and we raised the cash in like 2.5 days....what a trip this car is, its like a Vettel except with a bit more control and with the weight and all the other tweaks I've come to learn I can get it going almost 300mph on Indianapolis' Speedway..its get up and goes real fast...so a shout out to BOB!!! Thank you sir!!! and buy the elves lunch on me today....now I'm really hooked into this game....rough life but hey I'm dealin wit it!!!

Thank you sir!!! and buy the elves lunch on me today....now I'm really hooked into this game....rough life but hey I'm dealin wit it!!!
Sweet! Can we barrow it?
-
Glad I could help ya buddy.
I've been meaning to switch the cars in my shared folder so you've got some more toys to play with. There's a couple neat one's I've got you'd like.
Rich, there's a F1 in my shared folder now you can try. It's different then the one Ed has, but fun anyway.
Bob
-
Max. sure thing, I tried to figure that out this morning but I couldn't unfortunately I only go into my setting screen once a month and it has to be on a Friday (like this morning) so I'm cut off from sharing it because of a quirk in software design. If it were up to me I'd have you guys trying that car out today...damn software    (sinister laugh is heard fading out in the distance)
-
Thanks Bob. Ed, I gave Sony a call. They said your ps3 will be automatically updated even if it is unplugged. You will have access in 5 minuets :icon_surprised:
-
5 minuets is a long time Max. Max I did just put a special car on there for you just now though...check it out....
-
. . . W o w ! :o . . .
-
What was it?
-
Das Vettel.
I told the boys to look. They snached it and I took a few laps around Indy. You actually have to have a clear lane when you accelerate as you will smash into any car in your path.
I just got home so I don't know what happened later. More fun tomorrow. Look forward to the yellow beast.
We'll take them to that long straight night coarse and see how fast it will go.
Thanks guys :thumb:
-
Max...um, er, ....I left you that special little brown Subaru that goes maybe 30MPH top speed at Indy..........I told Bob the Vettel is a rocket with wheels that attempt to steer it.....LOL....Max, run a race with it, you'll be shocked how fast you pass everyone, and I mean everyone..... :rotflmao:
-
Max, run a race with it, you'll be shocked how fast you pass everyone, and I mean everyone..... :rotflmao:
"Twice".
-
"Twice".
yes! that happened. We were laughing our asses off. Does it make bspec races go faster too? :D
-
Max-- whats your screename again??
-
bestbuds1
-
yes! that happened. We were laughing our asses off. Does it make bspec races go faster too? :D
Yes. Unless, of course, it's a timed race. It won't qualify for all the races, but it's very surpising how much you can tip the scales using that car.
Bob
edit; By the way, I did see the invite, but I was b-specing and didn't see it when you sent it, a day or so later was when I noticed.
-
VERY special thanks to Ed and Bob for letting us use your AWESOME cars!
looking forward to racing online with you guys.
-
Also enjoyed playing LBP with you Ed.
~Trans Am (MaxCasts oldest son)
-
I suck at LBP.....did I curse?? LOL....I'll look for ya, I need someone to show me the ways of the LBP!!!!!!!!!!
I'll put the yellow car back up soon, I was trying to dial it in last night....I'm getting there....I'll put up goofy cars at least one out of whatever, they are fun sometimes. My kids and I raced Indy with those little Subaru's and broke 37mph, haven't laughed that hard in awhile...LOL....try it and you'll see.
-
 Haha  Gotta love the Fiat 500!
-
VERY special thanks to Ed and Bob for letting us use your AWESOME cars!
looking forward to racing online with you guys.
You're very welcome! :thumb:
I put a couple new ones on there last night. Give them a try too.
Also, if you "share" your drivers, I can race them and earn you money. Just ask Ed about that.
You can add my son too. He plays LPB, GT5, and several shooters. Ed has played with him a bunch as well.
It's a long story, but his PS screen name is "BobinStLouis".
Bob - The 'real' Bob.
-
well ill have to add him! one more member of the clan.
Trans Am
P.S. do you have a ford iv race car? cause we need to borrow it...
-
hey Ed how do you share your drivers??
~T.A.
-
Give me just a second I'll check. Finishing a b-spec race right now. :thumb:
I've got several Ford race cars, not sure if there's a IV.
Are you talking about the GT, or the GT40?
Bob
-
If you go to your drivers page, you'll see a little black globe icon.
Click that. It'll ask if you want to share that driver, then click 'yes'.
Bob
-
Here's the Ford race cars I've got:
- Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II
- Ford GT '05
- Mustang GT '05
- GT40 Race Car '69
But none with a "IV" designation.
I put the GT LM as 'shared'.
631 PP, you should have some fun.
Bob
-
I think we should race tonite...say 8pm eastern time.....Thoughts????????? Its time for a really good, good laugh!!!! :thumb:
-
I like the idea Ed. Would be great if we (you, Rich and myself) could be on at the same time.
No promises though....going on a vacation next weekend. Today is our last "big" day to pack.
Bob
p.s. I suppose by my plans you've figured out that other "thing" is going much bettter....
-
Good news Bob, real good.....OK...I'll get on at 8ish and we'll see whats up.....
-
Ah some gt racers.
-
Well now....that's awefully open-ended.....Ok, I'll bite.
Are you?
Bob
-
sorry guys cant race tonite... had some b day parties to go to.
T.A.
-
Hey specifically to bob and ed. do you guys have any fast american made car? If so can you please share it cause we are in desprate need of one...
Trans Am
p.s. Will have to get a different mic so we can chat!
p.p.s. Bob whats Trevers PS name again?
-
ED PLEASE PUT THE VETTEL BACK ON!!! (If you are not using it.)
T.A
-
We have a few bugs to work out yet. thanks for helping us last night. We quickly picked the vette last night but it was really acting funny. Couldn't get any traction.
From this point forward and racing online. What tracks do you usually go to and what car should we be saving for?
Have a good vaca, Bob and Bob's son in St. Louis.
-
Vettel is back for you and I put the FORD GT Spec TEST car....its very quick, don't use the gas and steer at the same time on either car or you'll spin out...trust me on this I KNOW>>>LOL!!!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Trans Am;
- I've got a nice Corvette I'll put on my shared list tonight when I get home. Are you doing the American racing Championship and need a car? I've got three that are nice. The Ford (that's in my shared folder now), a Race car Corvette, and a Viper. I'll put all of them in my shared folder.
- Trev's PS name is "BobinStLouis"........I know, that's kinda confusing.
- Regarding not getting any traction, make sure ASM is [On], and traction control is on. The higher the traction control setting, the less wheel spin you'll get. Although, at the cost of speed.
- Despite the lack of track time, I had a great time last night fellas! :D
Bob
-
Haha me to! the majority of the time it was Rich's son. (Me.) Ed thanks for the tip! And yes we are doing the American Championship.
Trans Am
p.s. You can call me Chris.
-
Alright cool.
I know the Ford that's currently shared will work, but I think it's the only American car I've got shared right now. I'll get ya some more cool stuff tonight when I get home.
Say Hi to your Dad for me.
Bob
-
.........oh, by the way....
I'm racing your one guy right now. I can make you more cash if you give me more guys.
Unless you're doing the big 9 hour and 24 hours races that require multiple drivers, leave them all shared.
Bob
-
Nope we are not to that level yet... Thanks for giving us some cash!! Saving up for the Formula Gran Turismo. Almost there! Should get it today. (Hopefully)
Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for the cars, money, and tips that you have given us.
Trans Am
P.S. Bob where are you going on vacation?
-
Butte Montana and Yellowstone area.
Check out > the video < (http://www.backwoodsbunkhouse.com/backwoods.htm) of where we're staying. 8)
Bob
-
Hey Chris pleased to met ya sorta in a virtual kinda way...I'll forget your name Joe so if I ask you your name zeek just say Chris and we'll move on...its old age.
Rich...not sure what tip but your most welcome....I found bluetooth headsets on Amazon, got a used one and it works with my phone, may laptop. etc...Plantronics-like $20ish shipped....there are deals there.....this is the exact one...
http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/gamecom-p90
When Bob goes to Bute, we'll give you the crash...har har....course in GT5 if you like....find a night thats good, my son is coming up for a overnighter sometime this week so that would be the only bad night....let me know a couple days out if possible.....Bob sends the official invite that has our code of arms.... "VROOM VROOM"...the only one I could remember...LOL....if you see that pop up, the race is on!!!!! Peace Rich, tell your son Zeek he's a good kid,,see ya Chris...LOL
-
Haha! NICE! Very beautiful place. Bob i put four more drivers online like you asked. Only 150,000 dollars away from the Formula GT! Ed, well have to pick one of those headsets up if posible.
Trans Am
-
Looking at headsets. Found these two for cheap and they are name brands. Here they are: Tritton AX 180 and Logitech Gaming Headset G330. Tritton is $50 and the Logitech is $30ish.
Trans Am
-
I'm racing your fellas right now! Vroom Vroom!
$150,000 will come sooner than you think.
My day here at work looks very productive.....when it comes to b-specin'.
Joe....Chris.....Zeek......:dunno:
Bob
-
Thank you very very much. We are racing right at this moment. A spec. lots done and plenty more to go in b spec.
Trans Am
-
How fast have you guys gotten the Vettel up to? I got it up to 287. FAST!!! On the Special Stage Route 7.
Trans Am
-
The "regular" X1 is generally much faster then the Vettle.....in most cases.
-
What is the X1? Would you mind posting a pic?
YES! Just bought the Formula GT!!
Trans Am
-
Chris...Check you drivers every so often and cash them in, Bob and his B Spec virtual team will rake in the dough, I tallied up my 6 drivers one night and walked away with close to "a billion dollars"......LOL....with Bob B spec-in you'll have extra cars sooner than you think....race them baby, have a blast.....just don't tell brother Zeek....
-
i will cash in now.
-
Bob is still racing, he gets off racing, I mean work at 5 ish I think...wait until 6
-
Ya i tried and it said they were still racing. Hes got like 200,000 packed up already! We are down to 61,000 cause we bought the Formula Gran Turismo. 2,500,000!
-
Bob,
I tried to send Trev a friend request but it said he has reached the maximum amount of friends and the request was not sent.
Trans Am
-
Once you dial it in you'll love it.....
-
Ya I know i LOVE it already! We got it in purple and white.
-
If I'm racing your guys, you can't cash in. You've got to wait. I had to stop racing for a couple hours today though. I'm at work, and actually HAD to work. Wasn't too happy about that.
I'll tell Trev to make some space in his list for you.
Here's the X1:

Thanks for the info and thanks for racing our guys. Just a quick a question. When racing Indy in the Formula GT I finish the race and then it slows my car down to 50 MPH. No control accept for the PS button. I let it go for a while and it just stays like that. All the other racers do it to. I won 1st but it never gave me the cash...
Thanks again,
Trans Am
-
Hey TA.....I think what happened is that you're waiting for the rest of the field to finish. That way, they know how much prize money to give out. Basically, you crossed the finish line and need to wait for them to catch up. The prize money screen will come up automatically.
ALSO: And this is VERY important.....When you cash in your credits from b-specing, you MUST save immediately. Otherwise, when you shut off the PS3, you'll loose the money/credits you got.
There's been a couple updates to the game since they discovered this "bug", but I'm not sure if they fixed this yet. Better safe then sorry.....just click the little red dot thingy.
Bob
-
TA--after you win just press X and it will end everyone else and tally up the cash.
Bob- I didn't know about that save thing...I think they fixed it though...
-
Bob- I didn't know about that save thing...I think they fixed it though...
They must have considering how many times you've not done it.
Me, well, it's habit now and I'll keep doing it. I've been burned, back in the old days. I cashed in a couple million only to lose it all.
Bob
-
Still. Did another race and it did the same thing! Grrrr. They have all passed the finish and the total time is still ticking away and I tried X like you said Ed but that didnt work. Everybody else is going 50 to.
Help!
TA
-
TA--your PS has got the latest software updates correct?? Try restarting the PS3 and doing the race again to see...its good practice at least.
Thinking here Zeek......will get back to ya...
-
Are you doing A-spec, or offline B-spec when this happens?
Ok, here's what I've currently got "shared". The first three will work for the American Championship:
- Chevrolet Corvette C5-R (C5) '00
- Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR '08
- Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II
all are modded about as far as they can be.
Then
- Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 Prototype (try this after you race the Vettel and let me know what you think).
- Pescarolo C60 Hybride - Judd Race Car '05 (just because it's fun)
Bob
-
Pescarolo....is that cool??? Bob your gonna leave awesome cars while you vacation right, right!!!! LOL...leave me the Mercedes and I'm cool.....I can't find it anywhere yet to buy. Oh well, to bad we don't have a steal mode...LOL.
-
Yes Ed it does. A spec Bob. Thank you for posting those awesome cars guys!
Have a good vacation Bob!
Trans Am
-
Can you guys give me some headsets to look at? Looking to buy one for up to $40.
TA
-
Ed, No worries. I'll leave you some cool cars buddy.
T.A., It'll be next weekend before I leave. I've got some more remote b-spec left in me before I go. :thumb:
The headset I'm using isn't made anymore, but it's just a cheap old "Jabra" earpiece. I hear you guys, and all the sounds effects through my speakers, but the mic is hanging on my ear. Just like the Bluetooth set folks use with their cel-phones. Trevor uses the PS3 specific earpiece, but I think it's just a little above your price point. But tell your Dad, being the wealthy guys he is, he can afford another ten dollars. :P :icon_twisted:
Bob
-
AAAAH!! HAHA! Ok im looking at a few. Here they are: Logitech - G330 Gaming Headphones and Sony - Bluetooth Headset for PlayStation 3 and the Sony DR-GA100/BLK.
Just wondering,
TA
-
Ok this is totally off subject but google phone hall of shame and click on the first result. Its pretty funny.
-
Sitting here at work, I got one b-spec race done this morning. When the second one wouldn't start, I checked the main GT page, and it's telling me to "prepare for a race".
Look like the power may have gone out at the house. :(
Bob
-
The horror, the pain, THE CLOCKS!!!!!!! we feel your pain Bob.

are you controlling your ps3 remotely?
-
Bob is the guy behind the curtain.
-
are you controlling your ps3 remotely?
Yes.
If you go to the main GT screen on the PS3, under the [community] section, you can set it to "remote race".
Then you can remote b-spec on y our PC at work through your PS3.
(that's how I'm racing your drivers while I'm at work).
But if I lose electricity, my router logs me out of the PSN.

Thanks,
Trans Am
-
I just took the Vettel to 444MPH its MAX the needle don't go higher than that speed!!!!! Its fast, fast, fast, you can barely keep it on the track.......Chris just did the same, he is having an absolute blast, he just went 449 he says in the vettel at 12yrs old.......this is twisted and I dig it!!!!
-
wow, I gotta see this. Can't wait to get home.
-
How do you do that?
I've not seen 300 in any car on GT5, much less 400+.
Bob
-
The Vettel I got going around Indy in the Dream Car Race we got those speeds, we lapped the field several times and took home 86,000.00 each time.
-
oops......kmph.......ooops.........278 mph.......ooops......... :nono:......... :duh:.......... :drums:.......... :surrender:

Alright Trans Am/Bestbuds, and Ed...the b-specin' is about finished for a couple weeks.
Enjoy the money we've earned. :thumb:
Would be great if y'all could race my fellas while I'm gone.
Peace out....Bob
-
Seems like you and CJ take vaca at the same times.
I'll try to race your drivers if I can figure it Out.
-
Have you guys tried using a tuning calculator? So far I like it.
BTW after 9hr endurance race with the Polyphony F1 car, I went to Extreme-Formula Championship and at Fiji ran a 1:1735. The lap record was set in 08 and is 1:1845 or thereabouts.
