Are the M8 threaded studs the correct ones for my speakers? And as to length of stud am I best with the longest 40 mm?

They're most likely M8. If unsure of the thread size, however, it's always best to take one of your stock spikes to a hardware store and match it up with a known bolt or nut size. Either 20mm or 40mm length will be ideal; 40mm gives you more latitude for leveling on an uneven floor or for a little tilt.
