"I have three RM-40 Speakers forsale. Two of them are Cherry finish and One is Gloss black.  You cannot touch sound like this anywhere near 5 times this price for a front right, center and left front set-up.  Rated a 6/10 on cosmetics, due to the veneer bubbles and the gloss black 40 needing a re-paint, though all three look fine from the listening position.

They were used as my front end of a Trinaural Analog System and Digital Home Theatre System. The Cherry veneer has bubbling on it which could be fixed. The gloss black one needs the FST tweeter relaced because I used it in my 626's. The new tweeter cost 127.50 on line and is readily available.

I need cash now, prepaid paypal and you can pick up or we can meet at your convenience in the Sacramento area.  Again I need these to go now. Medium oak with piano black top and base. 5-point "Setup Instructions" are on the back of each speaker. Bass damping is user-adjustable. "I purchased these speakers new from the factory back in the 80's they were just under $800 new way back then and were well worth it. They have 12" wolfers and down facing 12" passive radiators. The wolfers were replaced years ago and now the passive radiators need replaced. They have adjustable crossovers. They have been in the garage for a few years and the roof leaked and caused water stains but I think that could be bleeched out and they could be refinished. Anyway call for more info. Brian"

"For sale: two (2) VMPS Original Subwoofers in the original floor space saving tall format (vs. low boy). These are the subwoofers created by Brian Cheney that caught everyone's attention, filling in the low end to his highly regarded speakers. NASA even bought some of these VMPS subs for the low distortion performance according to the brochures.

This pair has received the Megawoofer upgrade, which means the original poly cone woofers have been replaced with the improved real woven carbon-fiber cone 12" woofer with wood phase plug. This makes for better performance and, well, looks pretty cool. (These were the same woofers used in the very TOTL VMPS speakers including the "Best of CES 2003: High End Audio" finalist RM/X.) They can be used crossed over unusually high to add low end to minimonitors and still sound great. These are the purely passive variant (one set of binding posts) negating the need to bypass old crossover components inside. (My preference since active solutions these days are superior to the old passive approach.) Condition would be near to excellent except for one from-the-factory veneer issue on the top of one sub where a paperback book sized area is slightly raised. (Sorry, no photos available just yet.)

Original specifications, performance (distortion, frequency response, power handling, etc) has been improved with the Megawoofers:

"If you know the history of this speaker and the company you know that these do not come up for sale very often and even more rare is finding them in the mid-west and there is a reason for that. Most dealers seemed to be more concentrated on the east coast. I recently made a road trip across five states to pick up two pair of these speakers and have decided to sell one pair. It was not an easy decision but I am comforted knowing that I am keeping a pair for myself. This is a big speaker, at 66" high, 12" wide, 17" deep and 240 lbs each, they have big presence physically and sonically. The midrange and upper detail is wonderful. They have 4 ribbons, Fst tweeter, (2) 10" drivers and a down firing 8" passive radiator. They are capable of filling a large room with clean sound given good, clean power, they are some of the best sounding ribbon speakers that I have heard. The finish is Macassan ebony. They will take plenty of power and have adjustable midrange and treble controls located at the rear of the speaker. I am looking for a serious buyer, this is a very nice sounding speaker and well reviewed, they don't make them like this anymore and for the price of what people pay for decent bookshelf speakers you are getting much for your money."
