Best iTunes Organization Software?
« on: 18 Nov 2019, 06:33 pm »
My Dad is in his 70's and he has a dancehall downtown where folks come to dance the night away to all different kinds of tunes.  I'm trying to help him get his iTunes library organized.  He doesn't have internet where the CPU is, so I'd have to download and bring the program there on USB or something (easy enough).

What programs would ya'll recommend?  I'm fine paying for a program.

I'd want something clean and simple that he can use, no additional pop-ups, spyware, adware, etc.  I would set it all up and I'm fairly CPU savvy.  He's got tens of thousands of mp3's.  No, it's not very hi-fi, but it brings a lot of people a lot of joy.

Bit puzzled.
If he has a iTunes library, he is using iTunes isn't it?
Why not stick to it?

He has cobbled together multiple iTunes libraries over the years from other people, old CPU hard drives that died, flash drives, downloads, etc, so there are loads and loads of duplicates, links that don't work and general disorganization.  Perhaps iTunes has features in it to clean this up?  I was thinking maybe there was a program that was dedicated and could do this more efficiently, but I haven't used iTunes in several years once I went the Roon route so I'm not up to speed on it anymore.

Looks like this is about
- scanning all the tracks
- detect duplicates
- correct tagging

I’m a bit surprised this cannot be done using Roon as most media players can do this job.
Have a look at MusicBee: https://getmusicbee.com/
You might try some dedicated programs: http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/tagging.html

Thanks, Vincent I'll check those recs out.  This is a pretty crude old pc set up (windows Vitsa?) running 1/8th inch headphone jack to rca straight into a powered mixing board then some PA speakers out into the barroom.   :icon_lol:  It's strictly set up for the folks to dance to, not hi-fi, but helping him organize so they can keep the dance rolling will be great. Thanks again!
